Remember when so many on this board hated Jamont...

they couldn't wait until he left. People would complain about him b/c they said he was a ball hog and that rick let him do whatever he wanted.

Some of us said that wasn't necessarily the case. We felt like Jamont was doing what he did b/c we had no offense. All we could rely on was his driving the ball in the lane.

Here we are 2 years later, Jamont long gone, and its the exact same thing with Dee Bost, only Bost isn't Jamont.

Just hated that he was forced to play out of position at the point, imagine if we had a real point guard along with J-Money and the Porn Star Chuck...
It is becoming more and more evident that Stans has no clue on the offensive side of the ball, and last night he failed as a defensive coach too.
There is no excuse for the last two losses, none except poor coaching......

I wonder if our team has ever encountered the term "dribble penetration". Ravern could do it more, but he chooses not to. Last night he threw down 2 dunks, and energized the team. Besides Dee, no one else thinks about driving to the basket. Having Jamont would be a huge benefit to us.

The guy was by far the best passer on the team and if you watch ND, he does a great job of setting other people up for good shots. He's also above average ballhandler and shooter. While not a great on the ball defender he hustles and comes up with lose balls and stuff.

If he was still on this team I really think we at least beat Bama and ARK.

I can understand frustration over his game at times, but people being excited over a unanimous all SEC selection and 3rd team all-american leaving our program baffled me. It's obvious to me that our offense was not a Jamont problem, but a Stansbury problem. That being said, I hope we finish out the year well and have some success in the tourney. We'll see.

that in close games at the end, he was FORCED to create his own shot. That WAS the play. It's hard to do that consistently when the rest of the team is just standing around. Again, Stan's fault, not Jamont's.

and were wanting him gone so we'd play more "team ball"

I have never seen anyone drive to the basket with no intention of making a layup. His sole purpose when he drives is to get fouled. He should at least attempt to make the shot.

Ill admit that when Jamont was playing, I often criticized his decisions on the court. Ill also admit that I didnt follow closely enoughto see what wasthe REAL problem behind the situation. At least when Jamont was playing, there was some hopethat he could makea play regardless of what Stansbury had "drawn up" and that time. Over the past few years,Ive come to realize that Jamonttook those wild *** shots because he had no scheme to rely upon. Now we still have players taking wild *** shots, but none at the overalltalent level of Jamont, hence the exposure. Good players can bail outbad coaches. Butthe talent level also falls on thecoach and this is why the meltdown is beginning.

Ill give my wife credit as she was the only one of her family that likedJamont and took up for him.

Bost is a true point guard, wish we had playing point him when we had J-Money. Jamont would have had many a highlight slashing in off the wing.. Oh what am I thinking we don't run plays with Stans........

I agree Bost is a true point guard and Jamont could have played multiple positions, but regardless of position Jamont could and would carry the team when he had to. Jamont's problem was he tried to carry the team all the time.

This may be the first time I have ever agreed with you, but I agree, there isno way in hell we should have lost the last two games.

I never said we would be better off without him, just better if he played the 3 or 4 instead of the 1. I blamed Stans for not finding a true point guard to play with J-Money...

Almost like it was an accident that he got there. It probably was consideringcoach usuallydraws up the 3 pointer with 4 seconds left on the shot clock from 25 feet for Barry.

No team with any big time success has one player that carries the team. yes they may have player that gets on a hot streak. Obviously we would be a better team with jamont but it is not a good situation when you are relying on one guy to drive while everybody else stands around. It goes back to coaching. Watch duke or any of the well coached teams they are driving the gaps when playing against zone and moving and screening while playing man. we fall back on pure shooting. it will win us some games but not get us where we all think we should go with the talent we sign.
