when houston nutt was getting run out of Arkansas and every one else in the conference couldnt understand why Hogs fans would want to get rid of such a seemingly perfect fit for them? It seemed the entire conference was saying to Arkansas "yall are crazy for getting rid of him." I think they had the right read on Nutt after 10 years.

Now first let me say that I live in Little Rock and Arkansas fans are bat **** crazy. Delusional. 17ed in the head etc etc etc.but in this case I think they were correct

Ole Miss fans were giddy as **** whenNutt fell in their laps after the Orgeron debacle and were running their mouths with the whole your loss is our gain routine. But this masoli deal is exactly why Arkansas fans hated his *** because you get real tired of his ******** lies real fast. Hejust so happened to be the favorite son in Fayetteville and they putup with it for all those years. Nutt isnt the long term answer at any school UNLESS the fan base of said school is as desperate or as disconected from reality as he is. Nutt comes out and says **** like "we're in the people helping business" and every one knows thats 17ing ********. But who better to spew that **** on than the same fan base that thinks that Sean Touhey truly cared about Michael Oher. Ole Miss and Houston Nuttare the perfect marriage! They both believe the self important, holier than thou ******** that they vomit on every one.

Nutt is a total personnel liability. His nickname at Arkansas was the quarterback killer and that has remained true.

At some point, the wheels will come flying off for him at OM. At ark, he had the good ol' boy network that kept him there for so long, he won't have that now. It will be fun to watch, I'll say that.

Either he leaves or gets run off by then. This is just the start of Nutt's fall from grace with the rebels.

and crippled several of their recruiting classes in the process. I'm trying to figure out the "desperate/disconnected from reality" party in that transaction.

and he's not the head coach there anymore. which is exactly what i said. he is not a long term solution UNLESS they are desperate/disconnected from reality LIKE OLE MISS.

The Ole Miss fanbase shares a unique personality defect with Houston Nutt that he manages to hide to the world at large via the spewing of ******** lies, except for you and Arkansas fans who figured this out while paying him millions of dollars over 10 years?

I doubt you will find many OM fans upset with him, for now that is...but do believe that day is just around the corner...He was at Arkansas for 10 years until he killed their qb in Mustain and started to lose some of their top recruits one inparticular was a wr recruit that was suppose to bring a real spark...does this sound familiar to anyone? (Snead and Pat Patterson) Then the AR faithful ran him out of the state pitchforks in hand. Now, I'm not saying when it will be but I def. think it's coming, Nutt is about to start playing with "his" recruits and no matter how many so called "stars" they are rated they just never seem to stack up to their potential, plus you can see the same chain of events being put together already in Oxford that we saw in AR....This is going to be funny and disfunctional like a Jerry Springer episode! Plus we all now that an OM fan will hold disdain for their beloved staff inside for a good while before they let it out, but I expect if Nutt pulls another stunt that backfires, he'll be lynched....really wished +!%% would play an actual college schedule, then things would get interesting fast!

Because all the OM fans I know love the guy, love his coaching, and love his recruiting. Is this like the Mayan calendar thing, where it's just going to happen out of the blue? Inform us all, please.

That Nutt would run into trouble with the administration/alum as the politics/environment of OM is so different than Arkansas. It is just so starkly different that what he is used to. It seems Nutt's problems at Ark really flared up when he came under scrutiny, he just doesn't handle it well. Maybe that has changed, maybe it hasn't - but I am curious to see how things pan out over the next two seasons.

more than one chance. For Snead, he stuck with him even when it was obvious that he was struggling...and for Patterson, he probably gave him more than enough chances to 'get right'.<div>
</div><div>Call it not crazy enough or not caring enough...I just can't see OM fans acting the same as Arkansas fans with the FOIA **** and flying banners etc. etc. That just won't happen. Could he fall out of favor with OM fans...sure at some point. He's nowhere near out of favor at this point. I don't think many have much if ANYTHING to ***** about at this point.</div><div>
</div><div>What stunts have Nutt pulled that you are talking about...and I wouldn't include the Mustain deal b/c we see how much of stud he has been since he left Ark. There are no similarities at this point b/t Nutts end at Ark. and his two plus year at OM.</div>

and especially after he ran it up the middle three straight times on first and goal from the one against UF I think, with Eli under center.

Most of the stories I read the recruits mention liking Nix? I think he's the best thing they've got going up there from a recruiting standpoint.

I def. think it will take some time...but, again, I do believe it has started within the whole Snead lack of performance (most of their fans see it as Snead just not living up to expectations but if it happens more often, like I can see it happening with Stanley then OM fans will start to open their eyes) And the same goes for the Pat Patterson ordeal...The thing is everyone has their breaking point in every situation so it's hard to tell, but with the Masoli stunt, yeah, right now they're barking at the NCAA but once that dust settles more eyes are going to be on Nutt...So I think it really hinges on a couple of things; How many more recruits don't live up to expectations before they pull their heads out of their rectum and realize maybe it's the coaching, How many recruits he loses all together like he started to at AR, and if he loses at home to State this year there are going to be A LOT of pissed off OM fans! I think if State continues on the rise the next two years that Nutt will be gone before the start of the 2013 season, here's hoping it's sooner rather than later but then again if it's sooner they could start to improve sooner....With all that being said I think it will be more of a sinkhole effect...slowly breaking apart until the sides just cave in

Chris Vaughn is the recruiting coord. and a pretty good one. Nutt (just like most coaches) usually takes the lead on a couple of higher profile guys later in the season but the rest of the staff (save T. Nix and probably Rader) do the bulk of the work.

I thought nutt received a contract extension from ark then announced his acceptance of the OM offer .... did not look like he was being run out of town to me ... as I recall, he announced an hour after ark announced his extension

You are right Lyle, he was offered an extension, but if my memory serves me it was based on figures that they knew wouldn't keep him and also that they had been informed he was going to leave and had made his mind up prior, so it sortaseemed like a "save face" deal on their part ....Nevertheless, the AR fanbase as a whole was ready to decapitate the man. but you are right about the extension

First of all, this is major college football. It's not pop warner, church-league, everyone gets to play and no one "loses" football. Everything is about winning football games. Do you want your players to better themselves, get a degree, be good people? Of course, but not if it comes at the cost of not winning football games. The name of the game is WINNING. College football is a big business now.

Having said that, I want a coach who wants to win, and wants to improve my football team. If Dan Mullen sees a guy out there that he thinks can make the team better, I want him to go get that guy. If he's a bad apple, well then its all about evaluating whether the benefits outweigh the costs. Like I said, its a big business. If the guy gets on campus and 17s up, then I do want a coach with the balls to enforce proper discipline.

Why in the world would OM fans be pissed that their coach is trying to win games? Why would they be tired that he says stuff like "we're in the people helping business"? Do you really think that any fanbase ANYWHERE, including here at MSU, wants a coach that says, "nah, I just wanted to win more games and I don't give a damn about my players, or whether they are good people"? Hell no. It's called coach-speak. ALL coaches do it. It's part of the game.

Believe how you want, but I'm not sure how you can say a coach that came into a school that had just won 0, yes ZERO, SEC games the prior year and takes that team to back to back Cotton Bowls is on a downward spiral and won't last long, when a snap hasn't even been taken in his third season. Really? Seriously? Are you trying to say that if we'd moved out of the Croom era and gone to back to back Cotton Bowls, but looked like we were entering a rebuilding year that you would be upset and ready to jump off the Mullen bandwagon?

Do you really care if we have an All-American QB so long as we are going bowling every year? You have lived way too long amidst the delusional Arkansas fans apparently. I understand the mantra of the "QB Killa". OM is a rival school, so their rivals, including us as MSU fans should give them hell over anything and everything possible. Is Nutt a bit eccentric? Of course. But to be honest, I don't give a rat's *** how eccentric my coach is if he puts a good product on the field that I can root for every season.

Good lord. I agree with the laughing about how this Masoli deal backfired on them, and I think we have lots of reason to be as optimistic as we have about our season in a long time. But, holy balls, enough with the completely asinine and absurd already.

ETA: this is addressed to more than just the OP here, but was easier to just reply under the OP.

If OM loses another Egg Bowl this year in a similar fashion to last year's, I think Houston will officially have a problem on his hands.

I understand that they have gone to back to back Cotton Bowls, a lot of that has to do with their scheduling. Also, my point is I just don't see OM fans being very patient with him after he starts playing with his players...I also, having played college ball before know what "coach-speak" is as well, there is also such thing as having "cancer cells" on a team. While they may be good/great athletes they cause other problems that can hurt either the perception of your team or your team in general....Never said it was going to happen, just giving an opinion on what I could see happening. No need to get bent out of shape about it. Again, it's just an opinion, if you feel my opinion is beneath you than so be it.
