Which prompted his harsh 1 game suspension. Person in basketball operations on trip conveyed this to me today.

This is a freaking tragedy. Stans probably deserved what was said, but he couldn't just let that crap slide. Stans needs to take control of this team, teach the players how to play as a team, and let someone on the team step up and lead. I don't care if Bost is out for four more games, someone needs to step up and demand excellence. The players gave up today and the need to get that corrected quick. I still have faith in the talent of this team, but it will not work until everyone is committed. Sorry some may call me a sheep and I really don't care what this board thinks. Our constant negativity is bull crap. Old ways of thinking doesn't do this years team any favors.

But this isn't the firstTime RS has cussed Stans and left practice. Could explain his physical condition but Stans brought this on himself investing so much in one player.

but I think Dee is the one guy that maybe could force them to step up and demand excellence from them. I repeat- I'm not holding my breath on that. I hope it happens, but it's not something that I'm counting on either.

I agree with you about their talent- from a basketball standpoint, the starters have SEC talent except for maybe Benock. But from a mental standpoint, they are just selfish in general.

Dee could and probably will be the guy. But the coach has to demand perfection. Now I recall vernado last year talking about how much work the NBA predraft workouts were very tough and how they taught him a bunch about his position and how to leverage his ability. Why don't our coaches teach offensive schemes with set plays, and on top of all that teach our players how to maximize their abilities. It seems like Stans lets them go out there and play streetball. I didn't see the game today but it sounds like we looked like the Sanderson pick up game out there.

I really thought my 1st post would get ridiculed to no end. It's been known to happen. My last comment is going to be about Sidney. That guy has been sitting for almost two years. Everyone forgets that. There is nothing like game experience and Sidney will get that. With all the hype, everyone thought this guy would instantly put up crazy numbers, but the reality is he is a freshman with 1-2 actual starts. I predict by game 5 he will be producing. I couldn't imagine what that type of pressure that guy is under. Stupid fans talking crap through every possible avenue, i.e. that twitter crap. I hope Sidney grows up quickly and deal with these piece of crap fans in a better manner. Everyone needs to chill on this guy and give him a minute to find his natural game day place on the team.

Our school has bent over backwards to get this guy eligible, ruined the chemistry on our bball team, and the worthless bastard cannot even be in shape when it is time to play.

So maybe there is nothing like playing to get into game shape but at least Stans could have the guy work with strength and conditioning to be in somewhat decent shape for his first game. It is not like it was a surprise when he was going to get to play. This sack of **** and his coach did nothing to prepare him for this season and it is beyond pathetic and beyond my ability to forgive either of them.

Fatso is lucky we were willing to gamble on him and he thanks us by being so out of shape that he has to sit and ice his knees after just a few minutes and then either starts a fight with a teammate or Stans himself. He deserves absolutely zero sympathy from our fanbase.

he would have been put on a plane back to Starkville and suspended for the rest of the road trip. One game for cussing out the head coach is ridiculous. Of course, Jackie Sherrill say, cuss out a coach and you don't miss any games. But we all saw how well that worked out for him.

Those guys are supposed to come in and play at a high level. Stans has hyped him up also to the point where we expect him to be good. I have zero faith in this team now. I hardly ever watch or listen to a game now and that is coming from someone who went to all the games when I was a student, even the ****** games in December when everyone went home. I just really don'tcare anymore which is sad. Occasionally I turn on the radio and then get pissed off and turn it back off.</p>

Stans better sack up or this will get ugly. W-L record will be ugly enough, but this days of our lives BS will bring the house down.

Team and individual emotions are a delicate balancing act. Stans knows RSS a lot better than we do. We'll see how it plays out.

It goes without saying but I'll say it anyway: coaches can't treat college and pro athletes the same way that they treat high school and pee wee athletes. Respect goes both ways or somebody has to go.

during games while Stans just sits there, I agree with post earlier, there is no respect or fear of Stans on this team. Players publicly bitching about practice. Star player obviously getting away with not doing conditioning drills. The Delks, Turner, Osby, Hansborough....was itcoincidentally all those kids who were problems. dude makes over a million dollars a year and he cant get a Freshman to bust out a few sprints and then lets that player cuss him and walk out. cut his *** now and show a some sack

When Stans bent over backwards to jockey your schedule around so that you have nothing but cupcakes during his suspension, followed by an exhibition game before his first live action against a decent opponent, it put too much emphasis on one guy.

Warranted or not, that type of stuff sets the precedent that Sidney is more important than the rest of the team. If this post is true, and he only got a 1 game suspension for that type of action, it furthers that notion, and your team will likely implode because of it.

It's similar to the Nutt type of discipline. He lets certain players, well a lot of players, be above reproach, and that works fine if you have good team leaders keeping everyone in line, but when you're lacking in team leadership that kind of discipline can destroy a team from within.

I've always been for grading on a sliding scale with discipline, so that you make sure you put winning first, but for it to work, you have to have accountability from the team leaders, since it won't be coming in the form of suspensions from the coaches.

If you still had guys like Stewart and Varnado who were good team leaders running the show, then the way Stans has handled Sidney wouldn't be as much of an issue. I don't know who your team leaders are, but from reading this board, it doesn't seem like you have any real team leaders to keep everything in check.

All good points, but maybe this guy just needs a moment. Can we give him a few games to get in the swing of things. Team chemistry is tough. 5 Games in and we will see a difference.
