-Zach Jacksonwill more than likely grow into a OLB
-PJ Jones was the best DL in the entire state hands down

-Calhoun was signed when they knew Whitehead was gone
-Preston Smith can be the next Pernell Mcphee
-Damien Robinson & Justin Malone standing next to each other looks like two elephants
-Milton can compete immediately for playing time
-Redmond has lost twenty pounds so far
-Perry is for sure going JUCO
-Harris has gained twenty pounds in 4 weeks on campus
-Arrington wanted to know one thing before he commited "Coach who has my number and what to I have to do to out work him for it."

Coach Collins is very impressed with ourstrength and conditioning program. Better than anywhere he has been.

From talk with Wilson after:
-He said he will run a similar D to what we are used to but he did say my best 11 will play regardless
-Carmon will play in the NFL at OT after next year
-Eulls is the best DE he has ever coached hands down and that he is up to almost 280

- He said they arent scared of anybody in the SEC and that the players and assistants feed off of DM's no fear attitude
-lack of experience concerns him at DE but he said the only way to fix that is to put those youngs guys in combat at get some experience
-Bumphis is fine and has become a real leader and other players are starting to listen to him now said he should be 100 percent for the spring and that Bump thinks he is the next Jerry Rice

Damn, where was this two weeks ago. I know the cannot say a recruits name and all of that, but they could have said something public. My wool is growing back after all this negativity from the past two weeks. Go dogs

I had just always heard he was recruited as a Safety.

I'm sure the coaches know what they are doing though - just glad he made it to MSU.

of the depth that we have at safety.

I've seen him play in person, and when he was running the wildcat for South Panola, I don't think there was anyone better at it in the state on the high school level.

He's just a football player who makes plays wherever you put him. I am actually baffled as to why he was rated so low.

I don't know man. In Mullen's speech about this class today at 3 he point blank said "Market, listed as wide receiver? That's odd."

After watching and reading all the signing day hoopla, the look on Dan's face and his tone of voice suggest to me that all the jeering towards Ole Miss since he arrived was just business and his way of promoting a rivalry. However, I think after the antics that went on this recruiting cycle that things just got personal, and it's gonna be ugly come Egg Bowl time. If we're up by 21 coming down the home stretch in the 4th quarter, I don't expect us to take a knee this time.

1. Its not a terrible class. Disappointing yes, but not terrible.

2. From all my observations, Dan Mullen is going to take this personal. He clearly doesn't like losing and will do what it takes to not lose.

Come August this signing season will be all forgotten by us. We will be ready to whip ***. Our class will end up being rating higher then Ole Miss due to dumbness of the recruits they usually sign. They will be hurting at many positions like they were this year. Nutts nuts will be in a vice grip. Ole Miss will be looking at another four or five win season. Our recruits will receive better coaching and developed faster. Make no mistake, our coaching staff is way ahead of theirs. It will all be good! Just got to have a stiff upper lip for a few weeks until this recruiting and signing thing has passed.

I'd rather win by 21 if it meant Nutt would stick around. Mullenis clearly superior to him on the field, and although Nutt's definitely not a bad coach and could be troublesome if he hired a real defensive coordinator, I'd still be content for him to stick around.

Only if he's already on the chopping block would I want to put the foot on the gas.

the list of recruits said, hespokeveryhighly of Market. He also said that even though he is listed as a WR, that was a mistake, he would be playing DB in college. Some other highlights:

- Daniel Knox is listed as a TE, but he won't be playing TE once he reaches campus. His frame will allow him to grow into an ideal O-lineman.
- Benardrick McKinney is built exactly like K.J. Wright
- Damien Robinson is further along at this pointin his career than Derek Sherrod was.

There was a pretty good turnout in Olive Branch, probably 150-200 people there. But the place was not packed.

"My best 11 will play."

I would look for Bonner, Mitchell, and Whitley to be used together often, with one playing up in a dog safety-type role. I think we'll look for ways to have only 2 LBs on the field, whether that be a 4-2-5 or a 5-2 look.

other than their overall talent, is that they are going to be big enough to slide towards the middle of the line if we ever get too thin. I'm not worried at all about our D-line for the next couple of years

was Corvell Harrison Gay. He played pretty well as a true freshman and I would not be surprised to see him play a DE/LB hybrid role next year. He played LB in HS.

Running a 4-2-5 would be a good way to utilize all these safeties we've piled up, but running it effectively takes a mix of athleticism, versatility, and experience that I'm not sure we have. I wouldn't mind seeing it tried though.

He got blocked pretty easily. The problem wasn't his talent or effort. The problem was his coaching. He was a specimen that really didn't know how to play defensive end. He would often just stand up when the ball is snapped. I'm sure he's gotten that coaching now and will be ready to contribute. I think a lot of people forget how bad the coaching is on some of the lower levels of high school ball in Mississippi. Some of the rural schools, poor areas, and/or smaller schools often run very simple schemes and don't learn a lot of technique. I've heard our coaching staff mention Gabe Jackson as a guy who really didn't know how to block when he came to MSU. He had the physical skills but not the technique. He got some proper coaching and the guy looked really good playing as a redshirt freshman.

had we just have been able to hold onto CJ and add Mackey. I too get the perception that Mullen took VERY personally the Bear recruiting shenanigans this year and will be much better prepared to deal with it down the road with an even increased vigor to pummel them on the field.

And I think we'll still try to play a base 4-3. But those 3 can all play the run and blitz aggressively, and are experienced (Whitley by starting last year and making plays). I just think we'll look for ways to get those 3 on the field at the same time, and basically using one as a nickel back in a 4-2-5 will get it done.

I think Eulls is going to be good. He had offers from Bama, LSU, UGA, and Tenn. Talent is not the question. And I think we will get thecoaching.

Maybe he meant Robinson (after 1 year on campus) is ahead of Sherrod when he arrived (after 2 years on campus). I doubt that... but remember we were coming off the 45-0 slaughter where our o-line was ripped to shreds.

I'm interested in what happens with Banks. If Slay comes in as good as people think, you could move him to FS and move Whitney to "dog safety" or whatever the class wants to call it.

Just quoting what a coach said. Larger schools (5A and 6A) usually have tons of assistants. Often the smaller schools can't afford to have 8-10 coaches. They might only have 3 or 4. The coaches don't always know the finer points of technique. If MSU was a 1A high school, Mullen would be AD, head football coach, wide receiver and QB coach, and teach history. Hevesy would be offensive coordinator, offensive line coach, defensive line coach, high school baseball coach, and teach science. Wilson would be defensive coordinator, running backs coach, linebackers coach, secondary coach, and coach girls varsity basketball.

Am I remembering this right? When Q got to school, he was a corner until (I think) he got hurt his freshman year. He gained some weight and they moved him to safety. Then he gained more weight and ended up as a stud LB.

I like the way Whitley hits. Maybe move him up to OLB this year to keep him on the field.

Culberson was 6'1", Whitley is 6'0".

You may be on to something, except that I think Whitley showed more athleticism last year at safety than Culberson ever did (which may be all the more reason to move him). He does bring the lumber, though, and his aggressiveness would transfer well to OLB.

only three true freshmen played last yeart, Hughes at LB, Harrison-Gay at DE and Carr at WR. I believe we redshirted everyone else, which would mean we redshirted around 18 or 19.

of the freshmen he should be the most ready to contribute from a technical stand point as he has now had two springs and a red-shirt fall to get ready. I expect that he will at least split time at both tackles next year and then start as a sophomore.
