Report from Tupelo...

[snoopdog9]

Coach Mullen energized the crowd and it is obvious he is excited to be at State. Talked a little Egg Bowl smack, and said he wants to own Mississippi recruiting. Also, talked with Scott Sticklin and he was laughing about all of the crazy rumors that were out there during the search. He did say the scary part was that some of the rumors were dead on. And Greg Byrne must be 7 feet tall.

that the leaks will begin to be plugged pretty soon.

He just stressed the importance of getting the players to stay in state and come to MSU. That's why I liked him. He knows what's important but doesn't make stupid comments or guarantees.

Since he can't mention him by name?

talked about being in Tupelo before recruiting kids. He was obviously alluding to Bumphis (I don't know if Florida went after Garrett). I had heard just after the Egg Bowl that Bumphis was going to Florida. Hopefully this was due to Coach Mullen. If so, then we have a great shot at him. On a side note, a former Ole Miss player told me today that he wasn't too sure if Ole Miss would offer Bumphis. I asked him why in the world not, he said he really didn't know. So I get the feeling Bumphis to Ole Miss definitely isn't in the cards.
