Wow the Bama boosters got their wish. None of them wanted money diverted from the uofA system to build them a stadium even though most Bama fans that have an education got it from UAB.

Yeah it's always been so odd to me how much open disdain the Alabama fans have for UAB's football program. They have a strange paranoia about it impacting them somehow.

On another front, did we have any more games scheduled with them? I know we don't for next year but I can't remember beyond that.

ETA: This site says we do not have any future games scheduled with UAB.

Formal action probably won't be necessary. It appears they may just die on the vine naturally unless they make a conscious decision to drop down to a lower level. There's no way they can compete financially.

Let's not sign the QB that torched us. 17-47 for 361 yards, 3 TDs and 4 picks. Even in our game he was only 5 for 15. He just caught lighting in a bottle and hit a few ridiculously lucky passes.

Funny, because it seems that more and more schools are becoming FBS every year, but this data shows that it is not the most advisable thing for them to do.

Division 4 is coming. The price of playing games vs. them low-end FBS schools is going to continue to rise due to these rising budgets and needed subsidies.

They tried doing this with UAH's D1 Hockey program a few years back. UAH cared enough to revive the program quickly. UAB won't survive this.

App State moved to the Sunbelt this year along with GA Southern. App State finished 3rd and beat ULL and Arky State on the road. Finished 7-5 without the full 85 on players. Not bad for the 1st year in FBS! but football is not as strong in Carolina as in the SEC so they may have a chance to succeed. UAB stood no chance.

I saw a report from either 2010 or 2011 where OM operated it's athletic department at less than a $1,000,000 deficit. The scale just measured by millions so it didn't tell exactly how far in the hole they were but it was several 100 thousand dollars worth. It showed us as operating around $12,000,000 in the black during same time frame. We haven't been in a deficit since Rocky Felker coached I believe. I remember the Clarion Ledger doing an article on Mississippi State specially and how we were making money for the school. Something else we can thank Sherrill for.

It goes to show why so much emphasis is placed on ticket sales
