The funny part about this is although they hate them our cowbells are one of (if not the) the most recognizable in-game traditions in the SEC. When any network does any kind of promo about the SEC that includes gameday scenes we`re shown ringing our cowbells. Kinda unique when you think about it.

Responsibility was very noticeable through TV as well. The transition from bell to yell as they come to the line is very cool.

Only issue I noticed was a tendency to ring before a play was over. Not even sure what the "rule" is there.

Everyone in section 04 did great. As soon as the center lined up you would see everyone stop ringing.

what no one seems to realize, it doesnt matter what we think.

if gus whines to the sec office on monday morning, a fine can be coming our way. however, as someone mentioned, cowbell is prominent in all espn type advertising. thats gonna be hard to explain why the office wants them banned forever more.

Agreed. also, realized yesterday that DWS is just as loud or louder without cowbells and "yell only" situations.

Agree with 4. Guy close to me had "no ring" sticker on his bell. May have been for a personal reminder, but he held it up during these times.

The only time we can't ring is when the center has his hand on the ball. Once the ball is snapped ring like crazy.

If that's the rule, awesome. But that's not the rule for the band or other institutionally controlled noise.

ETA this:
"The use of institutionally-controlled, computerized sound systems (including music), institutionally-controlled artificial noisemakers, and traditional institutional noisemakers at any time, except from the time the offensive center is over the football until the play is whistled dead."

The more national prominence we have the harder it will be for the SEC to ban them. Winning the SEC (and more) will be critical because how foolish would it look to crown a champion then announce that you're taking away one of their greatest traditions.

Just like the Conferece to want to ban the only SEC tradition not outlawed by the 14th Amendment, the 1929 Geneva Convention accords, the 1965 Civil Rights act, and doesn't involve gasoline, fire, or ropes.

I noticed the student section would hold their bells above their head by the bell itself and that was everyone's signal to stop ringing and start yelling. The students yesterday were world class.
