Yep! Way too many people accept and defend terrible football. Win or get firedOur fanbase is our greatest strength and biggest detriment.
Then just making the playoffs shouldn’t be enough. We need to win at least one playoff game or Rhule gets the ax!You need higher standards. This is Nebraska.
I'm keeping my standards low. Literally just being above average gets us to 10-2. Our schedule is week again, like most years. It's sad how far our expectations have fallen. Then just making the playoffs shouldn’t be enough. We need to win at least one playoff game or Rhule gets the ax!
And where did that get us?It's hilarious to me that people would be ok with 8 wins. This is Nebraska, one of the top 8 programs in the history of college football. Anything short of a playoff appearance in year 3 should be termination. We fired coaches with better records and less resources.
It’s possible to have high long term expectations and be realistic about where we were and are. Being delusional does nothing but continue push us further into irrelevancy.I'm keeping my standards low. Literally just being above average gets us to 10-2. A reality where Iowa State and K State are football programs we are trying to catch up to.And where did that get us?
We've had low standards long enough. Time to stop being losers! 10-2 with a weak schedule shouldn't be unexpected. We've been way too easy on coaches over the last decade. It’s possible to have high long term expectations and be realistic about where we were and are. Yep, having low standards has hurt the program. Mediocre this season gets you 10 wins. Not meeting that is pathetic. We play 3 decent to good teams all year. And where did that get us?
It's Nebraska Nice... State has turned into a bunch of pussies. It's hilarious to me that people would be ok with 8 wins. Zac Taylor, while not having a cannon for an arm, put up monster numbers for the 26 games he started. His arm certainly was a huge strength, only surpassed by his toughness and leadership. When did the narrative start of DR not having arm talent? I find that to be an extremely hawt take. If you want to criticize DR fine, but arm talent is the dudes biggest strength.
The only Qb's with the overall arm talent comparable to DR is Vince Ferragamo and Turner Gill. (I almost put Tanner Lee on this list.)
Zac Taylor and Joe Ganz were really good, but their biggest strengths were not their arm talent.
I didn't realize Minnesota played Western Michigan.Impressed by that 10-0 win Minnesota had over Western Michigan?
You’re absolutely right. Rather than put booster money into NIL to upgrade talent, let’s keep spending all that cash on coaching buy outs even if they’re showing an upward trajectory. Brilliant plan. You should replace Dannen with your unique and cutting edge insight. We've had low standards long enough. Time to stop being losers! 10-2 with a weak schedule shouldn't be unexpected. That is exactly my point. Raiola has a monster arm with incredible arm talent to go with the power. I would argue Raiola lacks the intangibles that mad Zac and Joe some of the best NU QBs since 2001. I dont see Raiola as a natural leader, it almost seems forced.Zac Taylor, while not having a cannon for an arm, put up monster numbers for the 26 games he started. I would love to see what Raiola could do at LSU, Ohio St, Oergon, Clemson, Penn St ot Tennessee. That is exactly my point. Raiola has a monster arm with incredible arm talent to go with the power. With all that talent on those teams, he'd probably do pretty good.I would love to see what Raiola could do at LSU, Ohio St, Oergon, Clemson, Penn St ot Tennessee.

Yes, winning football games is somehow a controversial take. Being above average in year 3 at Nebraska isn't too much to ask. Being above average this season gets you in the playoffs. Outside of maybe the next 2 games we dont have any auto wins on the schedule. We have to improve a lot defensively for that to be the case. 17 points isn't a lot to give up. In fact I said 17-20 I would be happy with before the game. I think it's the way they got to 17 that bothers me. Offensively Cincy played like a BIG team. The way our DL couldn't get off blocks and our OL struggled scares me.I predicted 7-5 or 8-4 during the offseason
I also told everyone here Cincy would give us all we could handle week 1
we looked about as expected, and I'm one who thinks that was a good win
the people chalking up Sparty as an auto-win should rethink that position - tough coach, tough team (opposite of us)
I was at 8-4 with a chance to win 9 before last night. My only change was switching Minnesota to a L after our

7-5 with a potential to win 8 games. We desperately need to pull off a win against USC or UCLA.
I’m still sticking with 8 wins and reserve further judgement until the Michigan game. Yes both lines struggled at times. But at times the oline was getting a nice push against a decent dline. I may be in the minority but I think the oline will gel and get better with a few new additions. I hope Pritchet will get out of his own mind. My opinion the oline was at there best with him on the field.Outside of maybe the next 2 games we dont have any auto wins on the schedule. I was thinking 7-5 or 8-4 this year. If that's gonna be the case our offense is gonna have to make a jump. I had this game as a 31 to 17 type game. But I'll give Cincy credit they had a great game plan defensively. I also give them credit for how well they tackled in the secondary.
I think we will improve offensively and defensively as well. But if we can get off blocks on the DL better it will be a struggle all year. Outside of the mizzu transfer kid and Davis a time or two our guys got stuck too many times to Cincy OL.
Holla
Just because our timelines are different, doesn’t mean my standards are low. Why are you ignoring the nuance of the arguments people have with what you’re saying? It’s ridiculous to say “if you don’t agree with me, you have low standards”. That’s a false equivalency.Yes, winning football games is somehow a controversial take. Being above average in year 3 at Nebraska isn't too much to ask. Being above average this season gets you in the playoffs. Why are your standards so low?
Not in terms of revenue and resources. NU spends more on sycophants and idiots than any other program in the country, evidenced by our constant irresponsible contracts and buyouts, with Rhule being the next in line. The program has become a siphon for donations and fan money to go to people who do not have talent or ability to win football games. This should be why fans are angry. We are a top program in revenue, fans are supportive to a fault, and spend to a fault, but the decision makers, who take millions to make the decisions put a bottom tier product on the field, often because of laziness or just pure incompetence. Eventually, if we ever get a moral person with a shred of character, work ethic, and competence, you will see this program explode and become a top program nationally. There is talent in the area, with weak competition, there is a huge alumni base, with people with money who still remember 95-97...a beautiful stadium, with a unique tradition. We just keep hiring literally the worst coaches, and pay them to retire.A reality where Iowa State and K State are football programs we are trying to catch up to.
Cincy has lost 5 in a row, your whole theory rests on them being competitive, but they are bad...and we barely won with home field advantage. That puts Michigan state, Maryland, Northwestern as toss up games...we could easily go 2-1, 1-2. The Iowa, Minnesota, USC as losses along with PSU and Michigan. We had a potential playoff team last year with a very good to elite defense, but terrible coaching on offense and special teams...and so we barely made a bowl game. This team is worse although special teams might be better, offense isn't. Getting to another bowl should be expected but 5 wins could happen with just a few injuries.Prior to season I had it broke down like this
1. Teams that were bad last (80 or lower in many models, cincy was in low 50's as comparison) year that I expect us to beat (Akron, HCU, Michigan State, Maryland and Northwester) 5-0
2. Competitive Teams (UCLA, Cincy)
3. Pretty Good teams (Iowa, Minnesota, USC)
4. Top 15 teams (PSU and Michigan)
I have us 6-0 with bad teams and Cincy win
I had us splitting Iowa, Minny, USC and UCLA and Losing to Penn State and Michigan and will stick with that for now.
Staying 8-4 for but watching MSU who may actually be competitive this year and for how Butler attempts to mature our run defense between now and Michigan week.
You have become boring and repetitive. I guess you struggle with coming up with original thoughts. You need higher standards. This is Nebraska.
My theory is based on analytics models that say Cincy was about the 50th best team and that bottom half of Big12 is better than the Big Ten. People act like Big is good but after PSU, OSU, Michigan and Oregon it is not better if not worse than Big12.Cincy has lost 5 in a row, your whole theory rests on them being competitive, but they are bad...and we barely won with home field advantage. Buncha battered wives in here
I hate to talk crap because he definitely seems well-liked by the team and he's a total pro in front of the cameras and embraces all of those parts of the job, but similarly to Rhule's prowess in those areas, we're at the point where Nebraska Football the football team needs to take precedent over Nebraska Football the tv show/content machine. That is exactly my point. I don't wanna only sound critical - he clearly has INCREDIBLE physical tools to become a "generational QB", he's clearly very smart and he has a great attitude, there's no doubt. I'm just looking forward to seeing him gain some old school scrappyness on the field and truly balling out and giving us some glimpses of his ceiling.
Well I certainly have no hate for him at all, just looking forward to seeing the type of unique star power that can lift up a team! The pedigree and talent are there. He has shown his arm and showed scrappiness in last years bowl game. And certain posters on here decided they hated him for it. Other teams always look better. It’s some weird bias because we know them better or something. After watching games Thursday, yesterday, and all day today… for the like 8th straight year it looks like we aren’t even playing the same sport as the top 25 teams.
So, I am hoping for 6 wins. I will be utterly shocked if we get to 8 wins.
I’ll come back to this post and eat crow if I am wrong, but I won’t be
I think if you go over to huskermax and read Josh and Matts conversation about concerns about our DL it will shed some light on our DL, I know it did for me.I was at 8 or 9, and I'll stay there for now. Too early and hard to tell where things will go yet.

I'm just looking forward to seeing him gain some old school scrappyness on the field and truly balling out and giving us some glimpses of his ceiling and what truly sets him apart and makes him a special QB, aside from making the easy passes look easy (which, I will note, is a very welcome quality at NU haha).
I’m excited to see him just let it rip and make some Wow Plays. I don’t feel like we’ve seen much of that yet in his first 14 games.
I think 7 wins is all we can hope for. The defense will get worked by anyone with a running game and mobile QB.Cincinnati W

I mean there’s not a specific definition obviously haha but ya know, big yardage plays that require an uncanny mix of vision, skill, guts, and intuition and leave you saying “HOW THE HELL DID HE DO THAT?”i have seen it referenced several times. People are looking for “wow” plays from DR. I am curious what is considered a “wow” play from a QB (and a pocket QB at that).
We don't have a gimme game on the schedule and yes that includes to two upcoming. Nothing I saw Thursday would lead me to believe otherwise.Cincinnati W
