Rewatching the game

And was wondering if anyone saw the movement in the 3rd and 21 play near the end when we began to self destruct. I saw the movement on the field goal but rewatched it several times. Just curious.

It’s really disturbing how bad officiating has gotten

And it isn’t helping folks like MSU. Severs simple spots of the ball were horrible and some of the holding calls as well.

I thought we got called for ‘holding’ on a pancake block maybe in the 3Q.

That was on Dolla Bill. I couldn't see holding. They got a first down one time that was a yard short. Plus they backed us up when Johnson almost got in. He was not at the 2 yard line.

The 2nd call, no, I don't think anyone moved.

Also, I think their RT moved on the play their QB scrambled for their TD.

And there was the one play they were gifted a ghost yard for a 1st.

I'm sure there were more, both ways.

The bad spots are just routine these days. They give the offense about 1/2 yard on every play. And they almost never measure for a 1st down any more, if it's close they just give it to them. Of course, measuring in the first place was always kind of a joke. Yes, the chain is exactly 10 yards long. But where the back stick was places has always been an approximation.

I guess they all even out but sometimes I feel like the guys have to beat the refs too. We don't get no respect, I'm telling ya. ( as I adjust my collar) take my wife will ya....please.

You would think that modern technology would have replaced that antiquated method of determining first downs by now. Maybe some kind of laser or electronics, or a gps chip in the ball.

It seems to me that the refs almost always move the ball to the hash mark. The ball is never between them except down at the goal line. I am watching the replay of the Cowboys game right now and every play has started on a hash mark. I really don't remember that happening in the past or maybe it took me 60 years to notice it.

They gave us an extra yard for a 1st down on the final drive. It was bad both ways

There was at least 2 false starts I didn't see movement, but not saying it didn't happen, but they were very ticky tacky on false starts.

I think on the play they spotted us a full yard short to make it 3rd and 1 and they didn't review it but ESPN showed the replay a few times some how, the refs immediately threw a flag on A&M for a make up call the next play.

The refs didn't miss that block in the back either on A&M on their punt return.

Overall I didn't think the officials weren't great, but they didn't take control of the game either. They had blatant make up calls for their missed calls I thought.

I’ve seen a lot of incredibly bad, truly awful high school refereeing this season. The only difference in that and what I’ve seen in the SEC is that college has replay. There’s no other difference. It has been garbage. I watched the Kentucky Florida game last night and it was really bad on both sides. Heads need to roll.

While we’re at it, anyone else notice the strobing lights in the 4th qtr? There for a minute I thought our lights were flickering in the house because i kept noticing this subtle flash every 7-8 seconds, but then during a timeout, I finally realized that it was the ribbon boards from the stadium.

They had regular bright colors with text on them for most of the time, but then like I said, there was this lightning quick strobe effect that would flash about every 7-8 seconds when we had the ball late in the game. That has to be distracting as hell for an opposing offense, and I’m entirely sure that that’s the point.

Johnson goes down at the 4" line. They 17n spotted it up at the two yard line.
They gave them a first down when the dude was 4 feet short of the line to gain.
They called a hold on a straight pancake.
They gave us about 10" later in the game for a first down..... ALL IS EVEN THEN.

Heck it was either our game or Dallas' game this weekend, the left tackle moved about 5 inches on either MSU or Dallas. You could tell they thought they were going to get flagged. No flag came, we snapped the ball, and scored I believe.
