Maybe but it's Elko's job if he wants itI cautioned folks a while ago that most of the big names you hear floating around are just going to be using this situation to get better terms from their Athletic Department. Most of the time, it's the agents of the coaches that are throwing the names out to the press.
I still think that when the dust settles and the next coach of PSU is announced, it's going to be a name that nobody has been thinking about or talking about.
I don't think it's a matter of coaches wanting or not wanting the job at PSU. It will be a good place to land for some coaches. But relocation is always a major hassle, both personally and professionally. The new job must represent a significant move upwards.Maybe but it's Elko's job if he wants it

Next man up. I understand that the assistant OC from Bumfuckked High School in Nowhere Wisconsin might be interested.
Runs the WishboneDoes he use a fullback?
Would that mean that PSU would get paid back $3M/year if VoTech were to be so stupid?LOL....McAndrew closed the thread, actually I did miss the insertion.
So, I posted my oversight here

Elko's interest in Penn State would have no impact on his ability to do his job. He has people to handle all of that.I don't think it's a matter of coaches wanting or not wanting the job at PSU. Elko is in the middle of contending for a Natty. His attention is likely not focused much on the Penn State position at the current time. If he is focused on it, he is not a very good coach because he is being paid a lot to focus on his team and his first loyalty right now is to the team and keeping them in a position to contend.
And if he does go far into the post-season, he is going to be asking himself if moving to PSU will offer him an upgrade in terms of immediate and long-term potential success. We are forgetting that coaches have personal lives off the field. Family pressure can sometimes be the deciding factor. The wife and kids are no doubt going to be telling him, "We just got here and I don't want to move across the country again." And A&M will likely be trying to keep him with a very lucrative extension.
A&M has more moneyElko's interest in Penn State would have no impact on his ability to do his job. He has people to handle all of that.
Elko's looking long term not for immediate success
Who says his family like living in Texas?
And, yes, of course they're going to pay him--just like we are. Both he and his wife are from Jersey and went to Penn. Could be closer to family if they move.
It comes down to the best long-term decision for him and his family. Hopefully for our sake, that's Penn State--if not, I'm more than happy with Brohm or Hartline or a few others.
We have plenty of money--it's not only about the cashA&M has more money

I don't know why people think he wanted to hire RhuleCan we fire Kraft for wanting to hire Ruhle or does his failure get him a reprieve?
I thought for sure it was going to be Rhule. Now I can't imagine who it will be. Rhule begged for the job in that press conference. He must have been told he wasn't going to get it. Imagine for the rest of his time at Nebraska, people will probably remind him of how he begged to be the coach at Penn State.
I really don't have a preference. Penn State had to move on from Franklin. It is nice to think maybe they will do better than Rhule.
This is so true .
This is so true .
Begged for job? Lol
Beg, gush, awe!!! You really took a different view of his PC.Maybe just really gushed over Penn State in that press conference, but not an outright beg for the job. He may have been in such awe of Penn State that he thought he wasn't worthy.
Sounds like he would fit in here at the BWICAC, if we have any NIL monies left.Bo was a volatile, abrasive guy.
not if it's the "splash hire" that we "deserve"Not just the media but quite a few people here, too. Some people are going to b*tch no matter who gets hired.
