As I posted earlier, we’re in a wait and see mode. I don’t think there’s anything Rhule could do short of winning out to lure a job offer out of a top program. LSU and Florida aren’t calling. PSU could get desperate if he wins out and they don’t have their guy.

IMO the only way hiring a different O line coach would change anything is if he brought a top OT with him. I don’t see that happening.
Donovan should have been fired after the Minnesota game. That change is an absolute must after the season. Should have been done by now.

And you're the guy accusing me of "spin." That's freaking hilarious.

Matt Rhule's agent must read absolute nonsense like this and feel like he's taking candy from a baby.

Hey man, don't ask the Johnny Superfans to provide facts. They're busy scolding the big meanies.
Maybe he will ā€œearnā€ his accelerators via the CFP expanding to 32 or 64 teams?

I do find it funny (isn’t it ironic?) most everyone ITT predicted a massive Year Three leap and is now just ignoring the fact we’re going 7-6 or so again.

Speaking of the realities of today’s college football, is there a P4 coach who’s done less with the portal than our own .500 head man?

It’s Year 3 and half our starters are Frost’s leftovers.

I’d like to see a firm prediction from you because 7-6 or so is too vague.

I'm so torn on this. I like Rhule, a lot. He has unquestionably done better than his two predecessors. The locker room culture is better, recruiting has the most moment it's had since Billy C. We are clearly finally able to compete at the skill position level (Key and Hunter are LEGIT).

But on the flip side. His treatment of the offensive and defensive lines has been so abhorent, it calls into question everything else he's done.

I'm willing to wait and see (Its still year only 3. I know Rhule is a year 3 guy - but rebuilds do take time). But I could genuinely go either way at this point if Penn State came calling...
For some reason Rhule doesn't get any credit for bringing in the top dlineman in 2024 class and a top 10 player. Nwaneri was almost too quiet about his recruitment. He didn't generate the hype he deserved. Getting a redshirt freshman of his caliber was a huge get. And then they actually got him to produce.

They addressed left tackle and a guard spot. 40% of the O line via the portal. Who knew Gottula was going to have multiple injuries. He’s been injured since fall camp. They tried on D line. They brought in a young guy they think can grow in to a run stuffing NT but he’s probably a year away. Not sure how much more they could have done.
Yeah but how does your O-line get worse in year 3? And the past years lines weren't much better. And this is coming from someone who appreciates what Rhule has done. But also acknowledges that SF was the second worst coach in program history and that Rhule so far has only brought the pendulum to average.

Donovan and Dana? You do realize the OC designs the game plan and line schemes that go with it right? That debacle falls squarely on Dana….,and I’m a Dana fan.

You must be forgetting the previous 3 years of Donovan’s oline coaching. Sure there is plenty of blame to spread around but when there is a 2-3 man rush and still getting to DR. That is on the oline coaching. The technique is disgusting.

Come on dingle. If you’re going to play that way, then the debacle falls on Rhule for hiring both Donovan and Dana.

Donnie is the problem. He can’t keep hiding behind the OC. His talent sucks. The push sucks. He hasn’t recruited well. Hence 4 years in and he doesn’t have a starter on O-Line that he recruited out of HS

This thread is ridiculous. It's adding to the end of the contract and is adding more incentives that I would think everyone would be happy to pay if they were to happen.

This fan base is so out of touch. Extensions are a normal thing, he was approached about an extension last year even. It usually is just a ceremonial thing to show commitment from each. If he were to win big, then you'd probably see something different.

The hate for Rhule everywhere is a bit odd, considering how long of a leash so many people gave Frost. Of course this could go south, but from the outside there is more of a foundation here than there has been since some of the Bo years.
100% Agree. He needs to address the line play on both sides of the ball, but things are stabilizing and moving in the right direction. A win this weekend and momentum continues to build and talk of winning out will show up. Lose and talk of losing out with be all over. Unfortunately the loudest people on these boards tend to act in that fashion.

All these ADs are the same aren’t they. Pederson, Eichorst, Moos, Alberts, Dannen………. New boss same as the old boss.
I see you Roger Daltrey! šŸ˜

I love that song and those lyrics (Meet the new boss…Same as the old boss)

But seriously, it could be to gauge MR’s commitment to Nebraska AND to make it costly for any school to buy Nebraska out. I think continuity is needed. Hopefully this continuity will result in steady improvement.

My thinking is that Holgerson is still getting familiarized with B1G defenses and is working through it.

Haven’t heard his name much lately

Hasn’t recorded a sack in a month

Played well against MSU and has kind of disappeared

Glad it's only 2 years, feared it would be longer. Hopefully they'll put aside a large portion of the private equity infusion just in case it doesn't work out 2-3 years from now, so it doesn't cripple the athletic department if a change is needed. He's done 'fine' to this point but being paid as 'elite' so that should be what we expect from all aspects of the program going forward. Least there is clarity. Now go win this weekend!

We’re paying Rhule millions of dollars to coach this team and to make assistant decisions. Interestingly we have a back with the most yards of any back we’ve had in a while. We also have a QB holding the ball on average OVER 4 Seconds, isn’t a run threat and is still completing about 75% of his passes. I don’t know what the problem was at Minnesota other than Dana losing his mind with his play calling. Ultimately Dana and Matt have to answer for the O line performance but with EJ’s success the O line is in fact doing something right.

I believe we’re short a couple of dudes. One on each side. Corc performed better than I expected when forced in to service. He’s #3 at that spot on the depth chart.

You do realize we are 13th in team rushing in the B1G right? So I wouldn’t go bragging about that mighty O-Line rushing attack too much. We have a good back, not a good line. Hence 13th in the league

13th in team rushing. Given up a million sacks but it’s not Donnie’s fault. Come on man. It’s year 4. What’s it going to take?

These AD's get tricked into these stupid deals. I really don't care about the money at all but this weird idea that Rhule was/might be going anywhere...who cares?

He is a nice guy and does good pressers and stuff but when it comes to coaching he is just a regular .500ish coach.

I can only imagine how this will look next year with Oregon, tOSU, Indiana, Illinois, Washington etc on the schedule
Smart to do it now too before we lose our last 4 games in a row
No ****. This amazing 7 win season followed by a sweet 6 win season, teams would have been lining up to grab Rhule.
