Rice 45 Provy 21 - Recap Thoughts

A really good game for a half. Provy came out and had a great 80 yard drive to start the game. Nice runs all over the place and a couple of nice out patterns. Rice came back with their own drive to tie it up right away. Then a bunch of dead drives by each and it was 7-7 going into the 2nd Q.

Rice went up 14-7 and then missed a FG (a rare miss by the Junior Kicker). Provy then went down and tied it up. Rice then drove down and appeared to score a TD but alas another penalty. Rice had a lot of em in 1st half. Rice then missed another short FG (even odder miss) and it was tied at half.

THEN THE 2ND HALF
Rice gets ball and on first play - long run TD
Provy 3 and out. Rice next play - Smalling TD
Provy tosses INT and Lacey runs it back -
Provy stalled then Rice drives and another score - so 28 pts in 2nd half and Provy basically tossed in the towel.

Rice was able to get their 2nd teamers in for most of 4Q which is good. Provy played a great 1st Half and then just seemed to die in 2nd. I am really surprised they don't use Malone much. He's a big kid and quick but no long passes to him. So now Provy is in a real pinch to make the playoffs with tough games ahead. Provy will not beat LA. Not possible. However Provy and MC should be a good game as well as Provy vs Fenwick

BR's starters stayed in just a little longer this week - made it to late 3Q/early 4Q but were out then because Badke is a class act. Montini's head coach gave Badke props after last week's throttling that they could have lost by 70 if the BR starters stayed in. Some CCL Blue coaches would pile it on in those same situations against CCL Blue rivals.

I watched the game Rice just exploded when 2nd half started. Prior to the half, i thought Smalling clearly caught that ball for a td, should have been 21-14 half. They just have so many weapons and big play ability with Houston , Lacy, Valladay, Smalling.

Their 2 LBs didn't play either. Not sure if they'll play vs MC.
