These announcers are killing me. #14 for LA is a load. Shaw for Rice is having a game as well

I missed the last play, who from which team got hurt? Hope they are OK but sad to hear the ambulance is heading there.

EDIT: I got the Info from the video announcers, hope for the best.

Hoping loss of QB Somers isn't long term. LA was the better coached team - LA had better talent too. Hats off to them. They are disciplined and they play their positions well and tackle well.
Dans, I hope what's circulating these days is just a rumor. If true, we were truly spoiled with last year's group of kids and leadership. I'll take team over talent any day.

Shades of Bean hobbling off the field in the 8A title game last year. Really hope he's OK. They did not look good with Lausch back there. He is just a sophomore though and he had to come in in the middle of a game against Loyola. Not sure if Rice is better of this year with the talent they have now or with the experience they'll have next year. Sure they have some juniors at skill positions this year but they're losing some seniors too (Pettis, Roche, Jefferson, Iraci, etc...). Kyle Clayton looks good on the sophomore team and should be a nice compliment to Dwayne Moorehead next year.

What’s circulating?

Setting this team up with expectations of last years group would be a mistake.

I see a 4-2 team with upside when healthy.

This team or any high school team besides a select few can handle injuries to key players and be successful.

Losing their MLB the week of Loyola was a worse case scenario besides possible losing Jefferson.

Even with a healthy MLB I’d say Loyola was a much better team on Saturday

Rice is a very good football team. QB1 doesn’t get hurt and that game is a lot closer. I do NOT want to see them in the playoffs

Might’ve been closer if Somers remained in the game. Problem is, Rice had no answer for Pemberton. I think Loyola took their three and only drives of the first half to the end zone. It’s nice to hear someone thinks they’re a good team (I don’t think they’re bad obviously) but I’m always very critical/pessimistic of my teams. Maybe they can make some noise if healthy and with the addition of Warren to the interior of that defensive front 4. IMO, they’re not one of the elites in 7A or 8A.

I'm referring to the off the field issues. No question this team has more individual talent than last year but they are lacking in discipline and leadership. Just my opinion. Like I said, hopefully the stories are bs.

Off the field issues unfortunately occur every year at every level.
Last year 3 starters were suspended week 1.
All state QB was also suspended mid year.

This year a couple issues.

Do you want the kids to play and not be held accountable?

I’m a fan of sitting players to they meet the programs standards.

These are kids. They make mistakes. The schools and coaches job to ensure they learn from those mistakes.

I think Badke is still trying to find the right pieces to his staff. OB moving to offense with Kelly and Nicholson on that side of the ball as well appear to be doing things better each week.

Appears though that the defense has fallen off the table as it did two years go.

What happened to him? Ankle?

Last year BR team was obviously very special. When you go 18-0 as Fr/Soph it usually translates into a successful Varsity team as seniors which they certainly had. But they had to replace 19 starters this season. This years Varsity was 5-4 and 6-3 as underclassmen. With Warrren playing now it will really help them, you won’t see too many teams running up the middle on them anymore.

Bean? Yeah, it was clearly an ankle. Wanna say it happened right at the end of the first half of that 8A championship game. Somers took a low hard hit trying to extend a run to the right. Came up hobbling. Definitely a knee or something around there. If you go to goramblers.org/athletics and scroll to the bottom, they still have the video up from the game. If you go to 1:30:35, you'll see the play he got hurt on.

No, Somers. He went out vs LA wondering if it was an ankle

Yes. I agree.

I wish they could duplicate OB and get him back coaching DBs. This years group has major tackling issues.

If you watched last years team they could just rush 4 and get consistent pressure.

Different players, new team time to make adjustments.

I was very surprised they came out in a base defense against Loyola and thought they could stop them this year. Clearly didn’t work.

With Warren and jones back in a few weeks they will be a tough D on any team but it’s clear to me that it is not due to coaching.
