We have had a couple great coaches since then. I am not sure if you understand vocabulary well enough to grasp the concept but just because our best coach ever left in 75 doesn't mean we haven't had a hall of fame coach and Rich Rodd and a couple other successful coaches since.

We have had 4 losing seasons since 1980. Pitt has had 4 losing seasons since 2005.

Sammyk is stupid AF, but it is debatable. If the question is which coach had the best career overall and not just at WVU, then Bowden wins. If it is which coach did the most while at WVU, I think RR accomplished more and brought WVU higher as a program than Bowden did. So even if Bowden is the best coach overall, the best coach AT WVU question certainly puts RR in the debate.

Seems a lot of you are ignoring the guy that built the foundation for WVU future coaches. Don Nehlen. He did more with less than any coach ever at WVU.

Don Nehlen the only coach dedicated to school staying 21 years. Peoples favorite a-hole married to Rita was here 7 years before destroying Michigan and then Arizona. Dana only 8 years and dropped to the next level at Houston.

Don is definitely in the running and likely the winner. My point is there is a difference between the best coach's career who spent some of that career at WVU and the best coach specifically during their time at WVU. I think most people when talking about the best coach in WVU history mean the latter. I know I do as all that should really matter in such a discussion is which coach did the best job FOR WVU relative the other coaches performance AT WVU. In that context, RR is better than Bowden in my opinion in refutation to Dave's assertion it is not debateable with regard to Bowden's superiority.
