I was around back in the 80's when he was building that program. I was a few miles down the road at Courtland. We had the great Ken Brown, with the great Tim Coleman as an assistant, and Jayem had Serbay, who's career speaks for itself...Friday nights were a good time in the Fredericksburg/Spotsylvania area back in the 80's! Still irks me that my Cougars never got to play JM in 1987 since they moved up to AAA. Both won state titles that year, Courtland in AAA and JM in AA. Would have been awesome to see that great Courtland team with JC Hall, Bryan Cully and company go against that Eric Bates led JM team.

I remember the cover of the Football ‘87 preview paper. It read, “The Greatest Game We’ll Never See”.
