<font size="2">The father of LB Richie Brown told me moments ago the visit to Miss. State this weekend was "awesome" -- however Richie has NOT made a commitment.

Family will meet tonight/tomorrow to discus things, and seek guidance from God.

Right now, the plan is to visit USM on Wednesday and Ole Miss on Friday

More from Richie's dad ....

-Apparently, A.J. Jefferson did tell Richie he was going to Miss. State.

Of Richie's visit: "It was an excellent visit. Everything went good. He met with [Dan] Mullen this morning. He had a fantastic time. It was an awesome visit, and you can put an exclamation point at the end of that."

God hasn't been good to us when telling high profile recruits where to play college football.

You know what's better than getting a high profile signee? Getting a high profile signee that is going to run our defense on the field and is known for being a great person. He enjoyed his visit, obviously, and has a high interest in MSU, from what I have read. With a recruit who has kept everything quiet, we can't really ask for more. I hope Richie sees that we have a great staff, great players, momentum, and we play in the best conference. You cannot say each one of those things about Ole Miss, Southern, and Tennessee. You can say some of those things about each, but you can't say them all about any of them. Come on down, Rich. If you don't, please pay no attention to the social media morons.

is how these players are trying to decide where to spend the next 4 years playing football and getting an education. I'm guessing the entire landscape of the SEC will have changed in 4 years. <div>
</div><div>4 years ago these things were happening:</div><div>
</div><div>- Croom was gearing up to have a breakthrough season building on his bowl win.</div><div>- Ole Miss had just fired Orgeron and hired Nutt.</div><div>- Meyer and Tebow were gearing up for their title run after the sophomore Heisman season.</div><div>- Saban was catching heat about comparing Alabama football to 911.</div><div>- Auburn fans were celebrating the hire of the spread guy from Troy.</div><div>
</div><div>So, if I was being recruited, the current coaching staff at each school would not be the end all be all for my decision. I applaud the Browns for taking their time and not getting caught up in emotion.</div><div>

that appears to have been God blessing us. Garrett would not have beaten out Tyler and with two QB's we would have had to either grayshirt Garrett or Redshirt Garrett and burn Tyler's- which more than likely is what would have happened.

It's already broken Top 20 on Scout, prob won't on Rivals, but it is definitely his best class since the one he held onto from Croom. I'm sure the coaching change at OM didn't hurt things, but it seems Mullen is finally making good progress in the state. If y'all make it to another bowl next year, that class could be special.

on landing Jefferson and Brown will follow. Like I have posted here, I have been hearing for a couple of weeks R. Brown was heading to Starkville.

My biggest concern when Garrett committed to us was that it might drive Russell away. We're much better off with him going to LSU, or anywhere else really.</p>
