After a long few months of waiting to find out on whether Pat Elder will be brought back for this upcoming school year, the decision has been made. Elder will not be brought back as AD and football coach, and they will be posting an opening for a head football coach. Tough situation for the school because it seems like there is plenty of support for Elder, but at the same time this is not an acceptable look for the school and football program.

I think they could have kept him and put him on some kind of probation.

No way he has two DUI convictions already and is looking at prison time if found guilty a third time.

I’m all for giving a guy a second chance when it’s earned and that is what the school board did when they hired him but he got arrested again so all bets are off. You can’t preach accountability and making good choices to your players when you don’t do it yourself.

The old adage........
Fool me once or make a bad decision, shame on him.
Fool someone twice, lucky for him he kept his job.
Three times? Come on..........

Ability to offer an AD job as well as HC, could be enough for a solid offer, and they are an option offense.

Not sure, just know that he has been AD at Carmel for years. Might not have any desire to take another Head job, just think if he did that the move would make sense.
