That hire wouldn't really excite me, but I wouldn't be too disappointed either. Of the names mentioned today, I'd definitely take Diaz or Pasqualoni before him.

that Mullen is going to hire another Torbush. He just can't or won't deal with the D side.

he wants to actually talk to a handful of candidates and then decide, instead of taking a resume off the fax machine and hiring that guy before talking to anybody else, like he did with Torbush.

coaching at Marshall. It seems kind of fishy to me that his BIO has him as a previous head coach and a defensive coordinator at ND and South Carolina... and both of his defenses did well at those big name schools. Why is he at Marshall now?

Fired as Cincy coach after 10 seasons. Lands at USC w/ old buddy Lou Holtz. Goes back to Notre Dame. Fired by Weiss before landing at Marshall.

He coached a 2005 unit that produced 24 turnovers while contributing to Notre Dame's plus-10 turnover margin. The Irish defense limited opponents to only a 35 percent success rate on third downs while Notre Dame foes scored touchdowns on only 56 percent of red zone opportunities.

Minter made major improvements in the South Carolina defense in 2004 under Lou Holtz. The Gamecocks ranked 20th nationally in total defense and 15th nationally in pass defense.

That just doesn't make much sense to me. Guy has basically been in Utah forever, went to school at BYU.

ETA: For any of you grammar/spelling police out there -- I know, I spelled 'judgment' with an e. F it, I'm not putting 3 consonants together. It just doesn't feel right to me, and I don't follow arbitrary spelling 'rules' that I disagree with.

I reread the post and you might be right. I originally read it as a "this name isn't officially on the list but don't be surprised if it pops up, wink, wink" type of thing.
