With all this discussion about Stans lately I have been trying to figure out which side of fence I am on. I have the same feelings as the General Consesus (HD6 pun)on this board that very few, if any, coaches can out-recruit Stans (he even recruits players that are with at other schools, ex. L.Rob and Sidney), but nearly everyone can out-coach him.
My latest waffle has been to keep Stans solely because he is responsible for bringing in Sidney (assuming he is as good as advertised) and the potentially phenomenal recruiting class he is putting together. He sure as **** doesn't deserve it based on recent performance. Then I realized that there-in lies the ulitimate Stans conundrum.... I am perpetually looking to the future with Stans. Last year I was thinking, "damn we are going to be awesome next year and even awesomer (terrible mental grammar) if he can get Sidney eligible. Needless to say, I was wrong on both fronts. The only time I feel like I was living in the moment with a Stans team was with the "Road Warriors" ('04?).
i guess the main question is, how many "just wait till next year" opportunities does Stans get? Should the Ninja give him a leash of, let's say, 2-3 years to see how he does with the new and potential talent he is responsible for? I am usually of the instant gratification sort (Ya Fired), but apparently i have early on-set Alzheimer's and keep telling myself "wait till next year" despite having said the same thing for the past 4-5 years
