Rider/Bonus points question?

I’m sure this has been answered many times, so I apologize in advance if it is redundant. I know that teams get 2 bonus points for every win that a defeated opponent has and 1 bonus point for every win that a non-defeated opponent has. Got that piece. Are there extra bonus points awarded for playing lower classification teams. I seem to recall something like that. My example would be Briar Woods with 6 points for the Ft. Hill loss (makes sense as VHSL considers them the equivalent of a 2A) and they have 12 points in bonus points. Just trying to rationalize the 12 bonus points. Any light to be shed would be greatly appreciated

You are correct. You get two points added to each class you play below your class. In essence, there is no penalty for playing down, they get treated as if they were the same class as you are.
