Williamsburg is a very cool place, I hope he will enjoy it. I started making trips a few times a year since I was 18. I fell in love with it long ago. I got to enjoy it again last month with the Spartans. I got to spend the weekend with my family, my Williamsburg family, my Preps family, and my Salem family in one of my favorite places to be. Great player, great family, Congratulations Riley!

As a W&M alum, I'm very glad to finally see a Salem player head to the Reservation. Seems like several Spartans over the years have considered W&M, but always ended up going elsewhere. Now that I think about it, John Ribble '08 played for the Tribe, but I think he saw limited action in his college career. And Matt Otey, who was a highly-touted freshman for Salem in '99 before his family moved to Hershey, Pennsylvania, was a three-year starter at H-back for the green and gold. Matt started on offense for three years, and had a grand total of two rushing attempts and six pass receptions - though four of those six went for touchdowns. Dude was a dedicated blocker.

Jimmye Laycock took over W&M's program in 1980, and for the better part of thirty years, his Tribe teams have been a fixture in the 1-AA (FCS) top 25. Despite all those years of producing quality teams while doing things the right way, we Tribe fans have looked on as conference foes Delaware, Richmond, Villanova, and JMU (twice! - I just threw up in my mouth a bit) all won national championships. Maybe Fox can help Laycock climb that mountain before the old coach rides off into the sunset.

[And for the record, I grudgingly rooted for JMU to win the natty last saturday. Go CAA!]
