I don't know, I think he had that "oh well, better get home and get to bed" look at the end. Very inspiring.

Yeah, that was a disturbing way to walk off the field. He accepted defeat before the game was done. It's time to move on. Riley will have plenty of money and time to do whatever he wants the rest of his life.

I think he just knows it's done and he's just waiting it out until retirement at the end of the season. Why not smile when you've got a nice buyout coming your way?

He was pretty smiley and happy walking off the field. I guess if you get your brains bashed in as much as his teams have you just grow accustom to it. Nothing new for him.

You know what pissed me off even more than Smiley Riley at the end of the game?

Seeing the coach of the team that ran the ball down the throat of the losing opponent was wearing red and white.

Meanwhile, the losing, pathetic, nice-guy coach was wearing all black.

Can we get back to "GO BIG RED"?

This blackout nonsense is delusional and counter to the tradition of NU football.

Stupid battle to pick here... the university sponsored a blackout (or the students, I don’t know...) if Riley wore red, you pricks that are mad because he smiles too much/doesn’t show enough emotion/hangs his head with hands on his knees/looks tired/looks defeated/fill in the blank would be on his *** for not supporting the blackout.

We are a classless fan base.

Class? All he ever says is I’ve seen a lot and smiles likes he knows something we don’t know when he loses. TO was class. Devany was class. Riley not class. Laughing after a loss? WTF? TO & Devany didn’t laugh after losses.

Bet you Scott Frost isn’t all smiles after a loss.

So let me get this straight... if you lose and you laugh because that’s how you routinely react to a loss that makes you classless.

Don’t be so clueless. I don’t care if you don’t like that he laughs, that’s fine. But that doesn’t make him classless. Would you rather he huff and puff and call the fans Aholes and yell at reporters after the game?

Laughter after a loss doesn’t make one classless anymore than posting on a message board makes someone a genius.

You are no genius.

Say your financial advisor blows your nest egg and laughs about it. That is classless. That is a decent analogy here.

How is that a decent analogy? We are now comparing a game to someone’s retirement?

Oh, wait... did you bet your life savings on this game? Now I see why you’re so upset... my bad.

Tim, I fully understand why Riley wore black, tonight. I thought it was great he supported the black-out. Before we all get to caught up in what the coach is wearing or not wearing I think we have to take a look at the type of play his team is performing on the field. There is no toughness, no inspirational play. No sense of urgency. There is just a whole lot of Nothing.

I feel bad for the kids. I think there is talent, but not enough to overcome the extremely poor coaching they are receiving from this coach and his staff.

Tom-class? The old man has tried to undermine two coaches at the University of Nebraska. You want to talk about a prick, he's the definition of it. Wish someone high up in Lincoln would tell the old man to go pound sand and stay away. This man cares about his legacy more than the place he coached.

Couldn't care less about TO (present day). One of the top 5 in history. If anyone thinks he could reach that status without being somewhat of a prick, you are really naive and an idiot. You are right. He did what he did and that is great. It is time to move on and leave him out of it. That is the problem with the fans. Leave the past behind and start over. The Nebraska way? I have seen 2 of the last 3 coaches try the Nebraska way. How has it worked out for them? Find a proven coach that knows how to coach and recruit. That will go a long way. The Nebraska way? Wins and losses are the bottom line. Whatever "way" they want to use is fine by me as long as they win and compete. Scott Frost head coach? Anyone know him at all? Seems like a decent hire, but do not be so sure that he would even come back here. From what I know, (and i know a little bit), the chances of him getting here, will be a little harder than it seems.

We sell out every game. We treat our opponents fans with respect. Expecting excellence is not classless. It would be like calling your mom classes when she barks at you for half-assing you chores.
This is not what I’m talking about at all. Not one bit.

If you want to say we should be better, I agree. If you want to say we expect excellence, that’s fine. What I have a problem with are the personal attacks on our head coach, who may not be a good coach, but is an amazing representative of our university.

Call into question his coaching. That’s fine. It’s warranted. Call into question his hires. That’s fine too. But for a certain section of this fan base, he can do no right. He smiles too much. He wore black. He isn’t mad out there.

But here is what he does... he represents the university with the utmost respect. He appreciates the fans better than any coach we have had since Solich. He respects the traditions at Nebraska (except running the ball... that’s not his cup of tea).

And we have fans complaining because he smiles too much or because he wears black to a blackout game.

Obviously as a fan base we aren’t classless to a person. Maybe I should have explained that better. But don’t tell me this thread is a classy thread about our coach.

Edit: the only reason this thread was started is because he smiled after a loss and has **** for brains. How is that classy?

No problem with this post. It’s the truth, even if it hurts. The issue I have is not one about coaching. See my post above.

Yeah plus I doubt he was smiling on the inside.

Sh*t for brains coaching

Mike was just spotted riding his bike to a local bank, getting a jump start on his week, in anticipation of an influx of $$$ upcoming.

Big smile on his face...

Who knows what Mike is thinking on the inside. I think it fair to say that losing must not bother him too much. If it did he would change. He's been coaching for a long time. I believe him when he says he really likes coaching and likes being around the players. I just don't think losing really bothers him.

Bingo. You see that in his teams too. No intensity. No passion.

Not only that, he makes what I call "critical errors." These are errors like the pick 6 playcalls. Just kill momentum, making it that much harder to win.

Guy is .500 and never going to change.

Everyone's judged on their personality, for even the smallest things too like smiling too much. Why can't we judge a guy who's one of the most well known faces in the state?

I never liked his personality. Nice does not equal likeable imo. He does smile a lot more than necessary, when he talks it's usually awkward, and he has no charisma. Those qualities are not a good fit for a football coach who has to lead a team to be mentally tough and prepared.

To compare him to Pelini, Pelini was over the top at times, but his personality never really bothered me. Maybe he was an ******* to some people, but he was loyal to his players, unfortunately at the expense of the fan base at times. Pelini was a good person and you can see that with honoring Zack Darlington's scholarship and Jack's touchdown run. A lot of posts on here make it seem like he was a bad person, and that's just not true.

As I stated, judge his coaching. No problem with that. But to start a thread because he smiles too much and has **** for brains is classless.

You will not convince me otherwise.

While I am in general agreement there was a lot made out of Bo's face.
