Louisville played Bobby Bowden and Florida State many times, both at the beginning of his Florida State tenure and at the top of his career. He was a difficult coach to beat but win or lose, he was a quality opponent and a gentleman regardless who won. Florida may again have a great coach but Bobby Bowden set the bar very high.
Some folks are irreplaceable. Bobby Bowden is one. Likely a finer human being than a football coach...and that's saying something.

He was an icon to the sport as well as a great ambassador. I remember those big games FSU was in and they lost some of the biggest by the missed field goal. After losing the game he would just shake his head and smile and walk off the field like a true champion.
Yea, you know he's gotta be thinking..."Dag gum Field Goal Kickers got me again." The margin between victory and defeat can be so small at the elite level....and he handled it all with grace and class. RIP....he will be missed.
I had forgotten that he was 91; so many years I watched him display his character and integrity. Another good man leaves this world for a new beginning.
