Man, 46 when he was diagnosed and it was already Stage 3. Get your colonoscopies guys. I think 80% of the people on this board are probably old enough that they should have had at least one.
Agreed. Get it over with.Man, 46 when he was diagnosed and it was already Stage 3. Get your colonoscopies guys. I think 80% of the people on this board are probably old enough that they should have had at least one.
The drink is the worst part. My office TP makes that backside hurt 10x worse than anything that probe could do.Agreed. Get it over with.
I admire your clear dedication to stealing it for home use, anyhowMy office TP makes that backside hurt 10x worse than anything that probe could do.
Hoping insurance will start covering colonoscopies sooner like they have started doing for mammograms.I have a 71 y/o friend whose daughter has colon cancer. She’s in her late 30’s. It happens so go get checked. I’ve had 2 scopes and both were clear….fortunately.
Let me guess, Columbus?I’ve had one. The prep is the worst part. I thought I was going to die of hunger the day before the procedure. Procedure itself was a breeze. Immediately went to Cracker Barrel after and ate like a famished Schrute after a night of lovemaking.
I was so bloated from drinking all that chicken broth, I didn't even get hungry. Still fairly uncomfortable though.I’ve had one. The prep is the worst part. More pro tips: Buy some butt wipes. Apply vaseline before the first squirt.Pro Tip: Get a bidet. Game changer, especially for colonoscopy.

You’re welcome (no razor blades on your corn hole) and I’m sorry (horrible visual).
Your experience just reminded me of taking my wife to the "Golden Triangle Colonoscopy Factory" in Columbus last year and it seemed the entire waiting room was at Cracker Barrel after everyone's procedure.Gonzales LA
Just put one next to every hospital. Like taking candy from very old babies.Your experience just reminded me of taking my wife to the "Golden Triangle Colonoscopy Factory" in Columbus last year and it seemed the entire waiting room was at Cracker Barrel after everyone's procedure.
Makes you wonder if CB siting studies don't also include the colonoscopy factory location.![]()
The key to making the prep easy as possible is starting a liquid diet about 48 hours prior to the colonoscopy. First dose resulted in 3-4 poops, the second dose was one poop and ready to go.More pro tips: Buy some butt wipes. Apply vaseline before the first squirt.

The Tupelo hospital used to give you coupons to Connie’s Chicken across the street. I could destroy three chicken biscuits between there and the house.Your experience just reminded me of taking my wife to the "Golden Triangle Colonoscopy Factory" in Columbus last year and it seemed the entire waiting room was at Cracker Barrel after everyone's procedure.

Insurance covers 100% for the procedure. You may have to pay for the surgical center and Anastasia .Hoping insurance will start covering colonoscopies sooner like they have started doing for mammograms.
It’s a whole different situation when those pesky hemorrhoids are inflamed and are the reason for your colonoscopy. My Dr. said that the 3rd movement would be painful. He was not lying. Definitely a 10 on the pain scale.More pro tips: Buy some butt wipes. Apply vaseline before the first squirt.

How old is Anastasia, and is that even legal?Insurance covers 100% for the procedure. You may have to pay for the surgical center and Anastasia .
I meant cover it prior to age 45. Insurance used to not pay for mammograms until 40 and I think good insurance will cover them as early as 35 now. Unless I’ve been suckered by sensationalists, I think the prevalence of colon cancer before 45 has been increasing like the prevalence of breast cancer before 40.Insurance covers 100% for the procedure. Shrutes make very thirsty babies. At least that's what they say.I’ve had one. The prep is the worst part. I thought I was going to die of hunger the day before the procedure. Speaking of the shingles vaccine. Only vaccine or shot that made me feel sick. The day after was always a bîtchAgreed, everybody needs to go get one. Insurance used to not pay for them until you hit 50, but they lowered it to 45 a cpl years ago.
Just as, if not more, important: go find you an internal medicine or family practice doc to establish a relationship with and get annual checkups from. I’ve been going to mine for 20+ years now, so he has 20+ years of lab results and exams to compare me to when I show up every year, so he might be able to spot a trend even before it climbs into an abnormal range. Plus, if anything comes up during the year, I just call his clinic and tell his nurse what’s going on, and he either calls me back, or they call in a script for me to try, or they set up an appointment with whatever specialist I need to go to. It kind of lets you skip to the front of the line.
When I turned 50 three years ago, he had a list of stuff he said it was time for - shingles vaccine, etc. - and a colonoscopy was one of them. Only had it done bc he goaded me into it, and discovered that I had two polyps that were an aggressive form of pre-cancer, so now I have to go back every 3 years. Yeah, the prep isn’t fun, but it’s not as bad as some people make it out to be. I generally just work from home the day before. Plus, whatever they give you to put you under practically guarantees you the best nap of your life.
That's what I always heard, and the nurse warned me about it, but I got lucky and it really didn't bother me at all. Biggest pain was the fact that it was two shots, and I had to make a special trip back a week later to get the second one.Speaking of the shingles vaccine. I had it at 30 something. Entire right side of my chest and back. Hurt like a bîtch. Had phantom pain from it for a year or so after too. I still feel it tingle once in a while on my rib cage. Usually when it’s cold. That's what I always heard, and the nurse warned me about it, but I got lucky and it really didn't bother me at all. I had a mild case of it on my chest prob around 12-13 years ago, when I was around 40, and it wasn't too bad. But man I know a decent handful of people around our age who have had it and it was no joke.
