RIP

There were so many good Rickey Henderson stories shared when he was alive, I wonder what we'll learn as everyone shares their memories of him. My favorite story is about his signing bonus check

One of the greatest lead off hitters of all time. Late in his career I was in Anaheim and they were playing the Mariners. He'd had a bad game and made an error and had began to argue with the fans in left field. I mean, he was being an absolute ahole so I joined in on the fun. Forgot exactly what I said to him but i was near the fence on the 3rd base baseline and as he walked off the field he hid his finger behind his glove and flipped me the finger.

Man, I won’t pretend that I was ever his biggest fan, but you can’t reminisce about late 80s/early 90s MLB without thinking about Rickey. That Oakland As squad was something

I was looking for the stolen base record speech and they seem to have lost it. The only video is of the steal and ends shortly after he hugs Brock.

It was truly Ricky being Ricky moment. I loved it and Ricky.

I think the first baseball hat I remember having was an Oakland A’s hat, I was probably 7 or 8. Smash brothers and Ricky, what an entertaining team and they had fans everywhere. Sad to hear this and also sad to see what’s happened to the A’s.

Wow, only 65...thats surprising. I remember him being very fit and a tremendous athlete. Supposedly, he was also a good football player. He had said that he only did calisthenics and running for his workout. I guess pneumonia did him in.
When I was a kid, I thought he had the coolest batting stance. I tried to my best to imitate him when I was at the plate.
