Didn't one our our defensive guys rip out his ponytail in the 93 game? Seems like yesterday I was at the 95 game watching him carve up our D like a Thanksgiving turkey.
I remember the 95 game. By the end of it, the 50 students left were ripping the tops off of pizza boxes and throwing them like boomerangs.

I remember when he started as a mullet headed freshman when we played USC for the first time in the SEC. They were in the midst of a historic losing streak and we were ranked 11th I believe. Many on their event staff were preemptively congratulating us on our victory before the game. He shredded us and I think cocks ran the table after that.

The 1992 game stands out the most to me. We came into that game with back to back wins over Florida and Auburn. South Carolina was 0-5 and had yet to win an SEC game (ever - it was their first year). They started Taneyhill as a freshman and we predictably made him look like a 5th year senior.

Those were probably the only 50 students that didn't walk over to the Hump for Midnight Madness. Terrible football game, but a fun night at the Hump!
Yep! I still had my cowbell from the football game and wanted to walk straight to the hump to get a good seat. Old man usher working the door at the hump about had a heart attack when he saw my bell. Needless to say, I went to another door and hid it better. I did not ring it in the hump.

Also of note from that night, it was the first time I'd seen someone 6'11" that up and close, Dampier and Walters are freakishly tall.

I do remember that day. Lived in SC at the time. Sparky Woods was their HC and they had lost their last 9 going back to 91. The team had met that week and determined that Woods should resign. Had our first child in May so I had several family members in town to see our baby and go to the game. We were ranked 15th. Taneyhill tore us a new one. I had never been so disgusted in my life.

Unfortunately, I saw him hang 65 on us in 95. Score was 65-39. Was this the highest scoring game we were ever in?
Highest scoring game by combined score? Or most points we've given up? I believe we might have given up 70 to Houston at some point in the 70s.

52 years old. Time flies as I wouldn’t have thought he was that old.
I would not have either.
He lit our asses up one October Saturday in ‘95, maybe more than one but I specifically remember that one.
I was playing golf on a boys trip to Myrtle Beach that weekend and they hung 65 on us!

Late in the game Jack Cristil said something like "And Tanneyhill has come back into the game, undoubtedly to set another record."

This thread seems like a good demonstration of posting > reading.

Sad, way too young. The dude was a ballplayer and a winner. Obviously carried it over to his coaching.

I live in Columbia and moved here in 91, I trashed talked for a yr, as they were moving to the SEC. Man I ate Crow. We could not stop Rob DeBoer and the QB Draw. Tannehill became a good HS coach, won State Championships at 8 man, then went to 4 A ball and one 3 straight championships.
