James River- Lunenberg Central-Nottoway. Both not once what they were, but still a pretty good rivalry between historic powerhouses separated by about 17 miles distance

Eastern Shore-Nandua-Arcadia

Bay Rivers-Since I'm a Bay Rivers fan and homer, I will give a little lengthier insight on this one. Grafton, Tabb, Poquoson, York. All 4 pretty close in proximity. Back way in the day, you had Poquoson as the main school in York County, then York High opened in the 1950's, then Tabb formed in the early 70's splitting from York High, then Grafton High opens in the mid 90's splitting from Tabb. Tabb used to be an absolute beast, but hasn't been the same since splitting and Grafton opening. Grafton has been better since it opened in the mid 90's compared to Tabb. All 4 of these are pretty good rivalry games. For Poquoson, I think the biggest rivalry is probably Tabb. Tabb seems to always play Poquoson tough and has had some wins over us. Tabb is only about 5 miles away. Poquoson has done better against Grafton the past 8 or so years compared to Tabb, and Grafton has been better. Just last year, typical example, Poquoson 5-0 and Tabb 0-5, and we escaped with a close win 21-13. As for Lafayette High, other teams in the Williamsburg-Jamestown vicinity such as Bruton, Warhill, and Jamestown aren't just much of a threat for the Rams. Lafayette has been so dominant that's is just hard to give them a true rivalr in my opinion.

As for the Three Rivers District-one poster mentioned Giles and Radford. I would have thought Giles and Glenvar would have been bigger rival judging by the success of both schools, especially with Glenvar coming on the past 10 or so years. I don't know, but the discussions have been pretty active on here when the two schools have played each other the past few years.

In the Mountain 7, it's now Union-Ridgeview for football.

Basketball it's Union-Wise Central.

SWD is for sure Graham/Richlands

My son, a Poquoson grad, would totally agree about Tabb. I graduated from Giles and the Glenvar rivalry is a good one, but short on history. We have a lot more history with old NRD teams: Narrows (Pioneer), Blacksburg (River Ridge) and Radford.

Southwest: Richlands-Graham
Mountain 7: probably Gate City-Union

Wise Central and Ridgeview is probably the rivalry with the most bad blood. Even though it's only going into its 4th year, they've despised each other pretty much since Ridgeview's inception.

I wouldn't call Ridgeview and Union rivals just yet... it's definitely blooming though. You can't call someone a rival when you haven't lost to us yet. Lol.

When talking about Wise Central, couldn't you replace Ridgeview with pretty much any school and make the same comment? lol

Never seen a school/fans have such a chip on their shoulder. Would seem that they don't like anyone, and I believe the feeling is mutual...with everyone.

Lol. Quite true. Seems like you had rocks thrown at you last year if I remember right?

Not me personally, but Central kids leaving school on the bus did throw brownies at Union fans waiting in line at the gate.

I think I'd rather it be a rock because that's just a waste of a good brownie. Haha
