Going to count last years class to Mullen, because without him, we don't get Bumphis, Heavens and a few others.

Croom

2004- Tied for 62nd 1 4 star 3 3 stars 22 total commits

2005 Tied for 33rd3 4 stars 9 3 stars 27 total commits

2006 44th 3 4 stars 10 3 stars 24 total commits

2007 39th 4 4stars 13 3 stars 34 total commits

200844th 4 4stars 7 3 stars 27 total commits

Mullen

2009 25th 7 4 stars 17 3 stars 27 total commits

201037th5 4 stars 14 3 stars 26 total commits

My point here is that you cannot question that Mullen is bringing in much better talent than Croom. Even if you dont give Mullen 2009 and split it between him and Croom, Mullen has brought in more 4 and 3 stars in any single year Croom was here, and is doing it with less total commits. The quality of the talent coming in is better. Mullen cannot be compared to Croom because he has already exceeded anything Croom ever did in recruiting. I trust Mullen to go out and find the talent we need to compete, and I think this proves he is doing that.

A 37th ranked class is better than a 33rd ranked class?

We signed 15 2 star recruits that year. We got to that spot based on the number of recruits we signed. If you noticed, we signed 27 recruits that year, more than the 12 spots below us.We used to be overloaded with 2 stars, and we are not like that any more. Quality > Quantity

I know you all are in a rush to bash Croom, but this signing class has not made it to campus yet. And we don't know who will pan out or not.

The Croom hate has gotten to be really tiresome. Can we just enjoy this day without living in the past? Damn.

And he would be correct. Put this class in 2005, and it's ranked higher than 33rd. His overall point is also valid: based on stars, Mullen's 2010 class beats any class Croom ever brought in.

You're telling me a class with more than half of it being 2 stars in 2005is more talented than the class we got this year where more than half are 3 stars? I call that an upgrade sir. Rankings just show you how you did relative to the other schools. Doesn't mean you got less talent. Just means you got less talent that the schools in front of you.

For the record, I fell off the Croom bandwagon about ten minutes after his intro press conference. I don't give a crap what the recruiting rules are in Dec/Jan, when you are the head coach of an SEC team you need to have your *** on campus looking at tape, making plans, backup plans, and backup backup plans. Crooms was chilling (literally I suspect) in Green Bay as a running back coach on a pass first team. I was pretty much done with him at that point.

we were under a stiff probation at the time. Apparently you forgot about that.

I am not too excited about this years recruiting class and here is why.

1. Ole Miss class is ranked top 15 according to Rivals and we are 38th. That's a big fuuuuuuukking difference. Even after we stomped them in the egg bowl they are still way ahead of us. We are obviously a step behind. I hate to compare us to Ole Miss too much but it is the world for us to be the top team in the state in every category every year. In recruiting this year we are not even close. I thought Nutt didn't know how to recruit?

2. We still have not recruited a solid quarterback. Period

3. Alot of four start recruits had us down to the last minute and chose Ole Miss and other schools over us. I know that happens every year to every school but it happens to us more. WE need to be picking up guys like Sanders and not losing them to Ole Miss.

(a) I no longer can think of a better use for the money he swindled

or

(b) when a division I school in a BCS conference gets probation worse than having Croom as a coach.

I know that the cloud was hanging over but the hammer came down in the fall of 2004 during the season. I remember Croom almost in tears when we were like 2-6 saying how bad it hurt that the seniors would not be able to go to a bowl that year. I would agree to a sense that we were on probation because Sylvester 17ing Croom is way worse than anything than the NCAA could deliver. If he can blame Jackie and not think that his first 3 years count than I have at least 3 years to bash him.

the other two were just an added bonus.

Croom said it best about street corners and wideouts. His problem was he didn't know where any street corners were.

We have a large amount of talent at running back.

A recruiting class is not ranked in the 60's just because of a ****** coaching staff. It is ranked there because recruits knew we were about to get in the coffin.
