You may as well go ahead a bold Texas A&M and say we're 12th out of 13. And of course, my standard disclaimer on all recruiting rankings. They're mostly ********. I have a very hard time believing that 5 of the top 20 classes in the country are in the ACC.

If we land even just 3 of our big targets, which is probably realistic, then we'll probably end up somewhere in the mid-twenties. Although it's not stellar it'll be solid and something to build on. Last year was rough. I think we have some good guys in last year's class but nowhere near enough. It needs to be better but we have to have more sustained success than just one Bowl Game.
And I fully expect the Bear Boosters to make some runs at a few of our guys. If they're willing to shell out the cash for newspaper ad then who knows what they'll stoop to. Pogue being the Defensive Coach for the MS/AL all-star game really bothers me. I just can't see any good coming out of that for us.

Actually msu is only ahead ohio state, ole miss, and usc because they Have 13,12, and 11 committs.. So of course msu's point total is higher right now. These teams will all pass msu.. Unless teams teams Have same number results arent a comparison, its best to look at avg. star rating which puts msu in last i believe. Well behind usc ole miss and Ohio state as you havent mentioned

Your class has a long way to go. If you haven't noticed most every one's class is near 20 by now. So where are the rest of Nutt's recruits coming from? Granted he'll probably pull in a few Dandy Dozen players, y'all always seem to have a way. Regardless you'll be signing some 2 stars to fill out that class I bet which will bring your average down.

And they are all calling other recruits for us.

I can't release any names yet.

three years later. I know that the correlation would not be completely accurate because it wouldn't be adjusted for other years' recruiting efforts but it would still be an interesting analysis.

It's going to be a transition class for us, and a lot is going to depend on who we hire and how quickly we make that move.

Actually it looks as msu's star ranking is a little higher than uk's. 12 committs at this point is exactly where nutt has been With his classes since he has been at OM, since he has been here the staff has gotten a majority of it committs at the end of this season, this year will be no different

Last year was rough. I think we have some good guys in last year's class but nowhere near enough.
------------------

we have 3 true freshmen playing and the rest are redshirting...

is it rough because rivals and scout said so?

Throw in the rankings and only signing 22 and yeah it was rough. I'm not saying we won't get some great players out of that bunch but we lost a lot of targets at the end. A lot of time and money was spent on what turned out to be nothing.
And I'm not one to buy into the whole Mullen can't recruit gambit. We lost Coach Hud (who is a very good recruiter), and Coach Diaz between the Gator Bowl and Signing day. That killed us. We better find some money to increase Wilson's salary at the end of the year.

Apparently we're already working on a list of candidates, and I don't know how big of a role Boone is playing in it all.

As far as candidates go, I haven't heard any solid rumors yet on who they might be.

If I had to guess, I'd say Malzahn is going to be on that list of contacts. Smart will probably be as well. I also keep hearing Hugh Freeze come up. I'll say I'm a little skeptical on that, but if I had to guess he'll be a finalist.

Not that Freeze would be bad, I don't know much about him but he seems to be doing ok at Ark. State. I've heard a lot of Ole Miss friends say that Nutt is gone, it's already in the works. Curious, is Nutt aware?

If that's the case then Texas is like having a big dick with money but not knowing how to use it. With all that damn talent they have no excuses.

and one of the docs i call on is a big bear booster along with one of his physician friends in the NE corner of the state....they are both FR....couldnt believe it.....both said they were giving up season tix if no changes made....one of them has had season tix for 40 years!!!! ....40 years!!!!!......but he said he would be surprised if both the boone and nutt werent gone....said that FR were 9 million a year at no giving.....

however, he says Kevin Sumlin is who the Bear boosters want....said he really wanted Mike leach....

edited to add: wine makes me make mistakes

I agree. Freeze would not be at the top of my list, but I have this feeling he's going to be a finalist.

The reason he wouldn't be high on my list is really his lack of resume, but he has turned around both programs he's coached, and he has good recruiting experience, learned the ropes as Orgeron's recruiting coordinator and landed a number of our top signees during that time, so there is potential there. I know Lambuth is lower division, but he took them overnight from nothing to something, and then they folded their football program after he was there 2 years. Then he went to Arkansas State as OC, and he turned their offense around his first year, and they're doing well this year in his first year as head coach. Also, he did get the reins of the offense for the LSU game in 2007 and the first half of the MSU game that same year, and our offense looked much better in a hurry, before Werner got jealous and took over at halftime of the Egg Bowl.

It would still be a reach I think, and his hire wouldn't wow anyone, but I can see potential there.

As I said in another thread, I've heard a rumor that Nutt is aware of his status. I'm not all that sure on how solid that rumor is, but the rumor was that he's already been informed of his status.

I know a lot of folks thought Hudspeth was going to be the OC when he was hired. I was a little shocked when I found out he'd be a position coach/passing game coordinator. I think he's done very well at ULL and if we are in the market in the future I hope he's at least available. Sometimes you can catch a guy on the way up. I sort of feel like y'all caught Nutt as his career was plateu-ing and is winding down.
