Riverheads Game Action

Sussex scores on halfback pass 9 seconds into the game. PAT fails. 6-0.
RHS goes 53 yards mostly on Fitzgerald runs. Williams PAT makes it 7-6.
Tigers fizzle on second possession. Gladiators return punt to the 25 and Fitzgerald scores on 3rd play. RHS 14-6.
Sussex moved barely into RHS territory but defense held. RHS ball with about 1:30 left. Sussex injury timeout.
End of quarter. Gladiators facing 3rd and long at Tiger 45. Penalties hurting both teams.
Both teams dodged second quarter bullets. RHS completed a 4th and 8 pass that came back. Sussex then drove from their own 20 to the Riverheads 2 on a pair of long passes but they had it called back on a personal foul. Sounds like the Tigers are getting frustrated. Still 14-6 and RHS will receive. First team that can calm down and play football will win. I will check on the other games now,
Buffalo Gap leads Altavista 15-3 but that was courtesy of the Sussex PA guy. The score does not show up on the Altavista screen.
LCA is leading Wilson 7-3.
Could not find any coverage of Stuarts Draft.
Strasburg is leading Central 14-0.
Heritage is leading Turner Ashby 14-7.
Second half kickoff goes out of bounds. RHS drives 65 yards in 5 minutes. I think Payne scored the TD. Sussex jumped offside on the PAT so RHS went for two. 22-6.
Tigers caught a break on the next drive with a deflected pass, but Riverheads holds on a Copper Arehart interception. RHS ball with 2 minutes left in the third.
End of three. Gladiators just got a first down at their own 27 which should allow them to kill some time off the clock.
Tigers just fumbled it back. Should now just be a matter of the final score.
Big Red took another 7 1/2 minutes off the clock. They fumbled around the 25 and Sussex recovered. The Tigers have only 4 1/2 minutes to score 16 points, so I like the Gladiators' chances.
Reverse those two!!!
Mason Flint rumbled down to the 1 and then got the honors. 29-6 with just over a minute left.
Nice broken field kickoff return gave the Tigers one last chance. They scored on a TD pass with 42 seconds left. Unless something weird happens, our final will be 29-12.
Gladiators just needed a final knee. Game ended very sportsmanlike. Gladiators won this one by controlling the clock and keeping their cool. PA just gave a 4th quarter of Gap 39-23 over Altavista. So it looks like the Augusta County fans will get their wish next weekend. Let's see what I can find out about the other games.
LCA beat Wilson 22-3, Strasburg rolled over Central 35-6, and Heritage leads TA 35-14. So we did not have a barnburner anyplace unless it was the Stuarts Draft/Buckingham game.
