speaking of Harrisonburg they are in 5D with no mention of Rock Town opening next year (that's gonna change).

I too had never heard anything about 350 being any kind of magic number, especially if it only applies to three of the four high school grades. As for the question above about Harrisonburg and Rocktown, I may be wrong but it could be that Rocktown will not have opened yet. But even if it has, I get the impression that H'burg was sooooo overcrowded that it might still stay D-5.

Actually Vol, they can appeal if they want to claim other adverse factors such as distance and travel time, or other hardships. 1% is an important factor, but it’s not an absolute.

The bottom line is if they are close to the line, and moving up or down creates hardships that they can validate with evidence, the appeals committee has the authority to uphold the appeal based on the evidence presented, 1% not being absolutely necessary.

I would prefer both Gap and Riverheads in class 2 but, Gap just appealed a couple years ago to go to class 1.

Rocktown will open in 9/23 and this is the first time they have not estimated the attendance for new schools.

In all sincerity with current admin policies in D.C. regarding the border and Rocktowns projected demographics , student population might see huge increase in next 2 years?

I think the Red team will have a tough time winning the appeal because they have been so good and dominant, and they are close in distance to other class 2 schools. This could work against them in winning an appeal to stay class 1.

That could well factor into an appeal ruling. Look at poor Windsor. they were competitive in Class 1 but I'm not so sure they've done much of anything while in Class 2. They are the opposite of Riverheads.

I had heard they were looking to keep some activities (and maybe sports?) consolidated as “one school” at Harrisonburg HS, at least initially. Anyone know if that rumor has legs? Would be an odd scenario for sure. Attending Rock Town, but playing football for the school across town.

I personally hope that there is no appeal. Will there be another football state title in Class 2, maybe not but with the exception of Appo, Graham and a couple scattered here and there from region A and B, there aren’t many in 2A that would/could have beaten this team over the last 5-6 years. I don’t know if the depth of athletes for the program will hold out for many more years but Riverheads will be at least competitive in football in my opinion. Other sports maybe not quite as much but that’s been the case in Class 1 to be honest.
