It's crazy to me that they expect even the unengaged fans to be this gullible. "Business"???? "Auburn has more NIL"???? Bunch of ********. Tell the damn truth or STFU.

Just play right into the national media image of lil ole moo.

He’s not wrong though.
Yes he is. Absolutely wrong. Those are not the reasons Cohen left.

All they have to do is let it go. Most of our people do not care at all. They know the truth. They don't have to write these articles to placate the Ross Dellengers and Barrett Sallees of the world.

We are our own worst enemy.

Why did he leave? What am I missing?
I'm asking that earnestly.

He is getting paid very well to leave and go to Auburn. Now as far as the NIL thing, much of that falls in Cohen whether he wants to admit it or not.

He’s not wrong though.

One way or the other, he is not being honest. A half truth is still not honesty.

When NIL was a certainty, that whole crew spent time telling everybody that it would not effect MSU and recruiting. Is or was that true?

They also stated that we could hang with most of the lower tiered SEC teams. Can we?

On this current thread, the lack of NIL is directly related to his job performance.

So while what he stated had some threads of truth, the overwhelming truth is he is making excuses for Cohen and his performance.

You are the one making that statement. Do you not know the answer ? If ya don't just say so.
If you don’t know, well…..I guess just buy the company line.

so yeah man, Auburn just poached him. Yeah. Uhh. Yeah.

Even Auburn fans know the truth. And I don’t even dislike Cohen. But the truth is the truth, and we didn’t just ‘get poached’.

Why won't you just say it?

You're pretending to have all this cryptic information and then when somebody asks you point blank, you defer, deflect, or say things like "well, if you don't know, there's no helping you".

Leads me to believe you don't know schitt.

He was nudged out the door. Cohen was a hard person to deal with. He had to jump while he could.
Oh ok. Well, doesn't make much sense as to why Matt Wyatt would be so upset then. I would think Matt has some pretty good inside information about what's going on in that building and for him to be as mad as he is about it doesn't add up to your information. Not saying you are wrong. Just a weird deal.

He’s just mad about timing, which we all are. Definitely looks to be intentional.

Alright Jimbo, if you know the truth about how Nick Saban did his deal, why don't you just tell us?

I think Matt was more angry at him going to Auburn the week that State is playing Auburn.

I'd love for someone to give me a little $400,000 per year raise, and all I've got to do is move ~4 hours away doing basically the same job I've been doing. It really would not be complicated decision at all for me.
We could have paid him 400k more if we wanted to keep him. I doubt money has anything to do with it.

He's getting a $400,000/year raise. $500,000 less than they offered the Arkansas AD. If we had wanted to keep him, we would have matched their salary.

Careful man, don’t want to trigger Robbie. I listened to a T&L episode a few weeks ago when he legitimately freaked out on Brian.

We could have, but we’re not ones to get in bidding wars with the big boys in the SEC for a friggen AD (or anyone, really). The raise for Stricklin was similar and we didn’t try to match his new salary either. Us not attempting to match salary doesn’t mean anything one way or another.

I do not doubt that Cohen was nudged out. Or the other theory that he decided he better get out while the getting was good. His coaching hires have not been great and if one or two more go south it would only look worse for him. Plus he has not really spearheaded this NIL thing. And that is mandatory

I ran him off because of his neglect of NIL, bad coaching hires in Football and lack of any kind of Marketing. Also I’m ready to ditch Adidas for Nike.

Is anybody bitching? I sure don't see it, outside of a few 'sky is always falling' types who don't know their *** from a hole in the ground.
You don’t know your *** from a hole in the ground. You claimed to have this inside info and when asked to relay it you just crawfished. As far as the NIL thing; I guess Cohen can be partially blamed for that but the letter of the law is the Universities can’t be involved so you know damn well Interim AD Brackey wasn’t going to allow us to dip a toe in the water. When the Bulldog Initiative came out there were 4 threads on the board bitching about it. I got curious to see what other schools were saying about NIL and none of them were complaining about it.

Nudged out the door and found a job at a Top 15 athletic department by revenue, with a near 50% raise, within hours. A lot of our fans will believe anything. The “nudge out” false narrative was pure spin to help the optics from our side once they knew the Auburn stuff was about to break. You literally had someone come on here to break news that JC was “retiring” after being forced out (and saying he’d already been turned down by Auburn) that happened an hour before his name started scrolling across ESPN’s ticker.

I have no idea why he left, nor do I care. I also don't care about the timing. I do think that the timing kind of confirms the impression I had always had of him though.

I’m not an insider so I have no ideas of the reasons that led to him leaving, timing, being pissed, etc.

But: You (and many others) need to quit focusing on “salary per year”. They gave him a guaranteed 5-yr contract at $1.5M so $7.5M guaranteed. MS only allows 4-yr contracts so to equal the guaranteed amount, we would have had to pay him $1.9M per year - not just “match the yearly offer”. Same with Stricklin when he went to FL.
