Ya it is a huge difference all I was trying to say is after seeing Erwin and Heritage play 12 strait years .Erwin is a team that Robbinsville is not used to playing unless you count the Crist School game last year Erwin plays a different brand of football than the SMC as a Heritage fan ive seen first hand how hard there offence is to defend against your can't hit someone in the mouth when there 10 yards past you I'm just saying if you are going to have any chance in this game you better have some very fast boys.if not good luck because you will need it...Heritage plays them 2nd game and we are up against the same problem I love Robbinsville football program got nothing but respect for what they have accomplished thru the years win or lose this game will make Robbinsville team better and if you guys win I will be the first to congratulate you...also if this game is at Erwin to me it's one of the best places to watch a game its a beautiful place..

I agree with you but we have played some really good teams. Charlotte Country day was good but not as fast as Erwin. CS had some fast kids the last few years. If we can move the ball with long drives we will be ok.

Ya that's how you beat Erwin long drives and take a few chanch like onside kicks and don't let them run the kick offs back even if you have to kick it out of bounds like i.said in a previous post Erwins new coach was a big difference in there.team last year they had a really good team and there line is big .I just can't understand how they don't play better on defence but last year's team did improve in that area I belive Erwin opens vs Mitchell so we will know what kind of team Erwin will have this year real quick .but I do think Erwin wins that game .Mitchell has trouble beating good teams but this year may be the year they fix that problem but when Mitchell makes the trip to Mountain Heritage and get there yearly butt kicking it seems to bother them the rest of the season I think they have a little more talent than us this year but it want matter our coach knows how to beat them and there just are not as physical as Heritage .if we had a kicker like Mitchell has I think we win by 28 but sence we have no site of a kicking game it will be a closer game .I love to give the Mitchell fans hell there good people and they did used to kick our butt almost yearly till coach Robinson was hired what makes it even better coach Robinson went to MItchell and wanted the job ,but they hired another local boy that didn't last but a couple season's but they do now have a great coach that will only get better it took coach Robinson some time to build a program and without him we would go back to playing everybody home coming games you don't replace a coach like Joey Robinson he plays to win and he knows how to build a offensive line. its going to be one fun season Asheville citizen times interviewed Neil Heritages linebacker and WHC defensive played of the year last season they ask him what would be a secsesfull season this year he said beating Mitchell nothing else mattes if we don't win that game .this game is becoming one of the top rivals in the state..I can just imagine the he'll I'm going to receive if we ever lost to MItchell..it will be well deserved...

No doubt Heritage has had the upper hand the past few years and I expect that to continue this year in the "pit". (Which by the way is properly named because that stadium is the pits...lol.) Until Mitchell can figure out the 1st quarter against Heritage they have no chance. At this point I feel it is as much mental as physical. As I have said before it is alot more fun when both teams are competitive vs when 1 or both stink. And we have both been there.

Now back to the topic Robbinsville definitely has the running game to be competitive in this game. Biggest question I would have is depth. However, new coaches and new qb are questions for Erwin.

Looking forward to the start of the season. Hopefully work will all me to make some games again this season.

I know it was only a scrimmage game and it was a 10 am game but I really think after watching Murphy vs Erwin today that Robbinsville will win this game. I also think Mitchell will win over Erwin. No disrespect to Erwin and if Erwin is clicking on the passing game it could change but now I’m picking Robbinsville by 3 td’s

I will agree with some of your comment mountie. but there is a big difference in playing Readsville than playing Cherokee .no disrespect to Cherokee but in 2017 Readisville or Heritage would have killed Cherokee.when I say Mitchell has trouble in Big games I'm pointing to the last to years were you all got beat on your home field in the western finals .now I can see losing to Murphy ,but no excuse for losing to Cherokee.one more thing tell me the last time Mountain Heritage got beat in a playoff game that they were favored to win I do belive that if we had got Reidsville on our home field last 2 season's we would have won at least one of those games ,but could have still got beat in the championship. there is a big difference in playing 2a than 1a there is just more good teams in 2a.I do think Mitchell gets it done this year .as far as Heritage last year was the best chance we will have in a while

I agree 100% Mitchell has lost some big games at home all the way back to the Swain game in 2011-12 which they led into the 4th quarter just like last season. I really believe that Mitchell overlooked Cherokee year before last and did not give them enough credit, and well it cost them. Last season I think Murphy wins 6 out of 10 against Mitchell. I thought they were just better, not by much but better. Even if they had beaten Murphy it was no guarantee they would have beaten Robbinsville the next week. Mitchell must figure out how to win these games. However, until it happens it is easier said than done.

There is a reason that there a certain number of schools who is and has historically been at the top of there respected divisions. I would not at all be surprised to see the 2a west come down to Heritage and Reidsville again. I don't count Joey out to often. As far as this year I hope you are correct but until Mitchell get by the SMC I make no plans on traveling to the title game. As good as Mitchell has been the past few years it is telling that they have had more trouble at the 1a level than their last season as a 1aa. Granted the past few years they would have ran into Tarboro and well less not go there. It would not have ended well for 1 of the 2 purple teams.

Nice post Bowhunter it's Mitchell fans like you that make it hard for me to pull against the Mountainneers.belive it or not I pull for you guys except for one game a year some of the best people I've ever met are from Mitchell countie ..I think your Mountainneers will be a hand full this year.good luck to you guys your first game at Erwin should be a classic, but I'm picking Mitchell by 10..but it want be easy but if your kicked can keep there return game in check that should be the difference..

The biggest issue I've seen the last few years for Mitchell playing Mtn Heritage isn't to me the talent level as much as between the ears. Before the game Mitchell hopes to beat MH while MH is like how much will we be them by this year. Then the other issue probably due to the first one, Joey teams plays thier game every game that's true to the team personality , run the ball, pass only when you have to ,eat up that clock and keep the other teams offense off the field then when you do score go for two ( I think something like over 80% of the time the get they two). So for some reason Mitchell instead of playing to thier personally ( mix of run and pass) changes up for this one game and tries to play Joey's game so even if you keep up in the TD's your behind because it not your game to go for two , so if you both score 3 td's it's 24-18 instead of 24-21 were at least you can kick a field goal to tie. So by the second half when you finally just go back to playing your football you might make a come back and make it interesting but you already lost the game on the first half. Not saying Mitchell would won more of these games but they're losing them anyway so advise to them is be true to yourself , play your kind football that you play every other game and let MH do what they do, because if you go there and play Joey football and its not the game plan you usually play your not going to beat Joey at his own game.
