McCready on Rivals said that Robert Johnson texted him and told him that he committed to MSU.

At least that's what BDJ is saying.

I think he's gonna be a good one. Once he gets evaluated at some combines and gets his name around he will begin to move up the WR charts. </p>

sometime between signing day and August, and this will improve his stock....on 6pack.

I too have no idea what that guy was talking about.

You do realize that Robert is a senior right now and done playing high school football, correct? Any evaluation of him is over and done with.

I thought there were still some camps that go on after the season is over, even for seniors. Guess I was wrong.

during the summer and early fall. Seems all signs pointed to Ole Miss or Florida State (if they offered). I figured State had gotten left completely in the dust, seemed he just wasn't interested in us.

Hats off to this staff for this guy, he'd be a big commitment. Also amazing is how we're in the game for Damein Robinson - in the past, he'd be just a pipe dream.

I remember the story at how angry Stans would get when he first came to State, and the other coaches wouldn't go after all-State talent because they figured they didn't want to come to 'lil ol MState anyway. Stansbury showed everybody that The Mississippi State University could recruit with the big boys, locking down the State with the occasional out-of-State gem.

I'm beginning to think Mullen may be doing the same thing for MState in football.

I think the key for him making his mark will be to build a good OL from out of state. There are usually some decent OL in the state, but to build a good OL, I think Mullen is gonna have to go to AL or LA and try and pull some of these big lineman. Or when the guys like Damien Robinson come out of MS, we have to get them.

with an offensive line made up entirely of Mississippians.

Damn. I didn't realize that. Impressive.

And that's some pretty nice pwnage as well for the draft commissioner.

Usually there are better lineman out of state. Now if we are able to get the best lineman in the state year in and year out, then I would agree with you that we can stay competitive with an all MS OL. But there usually isn't a ton of depth across the board that translates into great offensive lineman. I think Sherrod may be the only NFL caliber OL we have on the roster.

We're going to be a rushing team, but I dont buy into the OL needs to come from MS or out of state stuff.

There are a couple reasons why we ran the ball so much this year, and I dont think any of them have to do w/ where our OL came from..

Anthony Dixon
We're an option team
We had 3 senior RBs
Our QB couldn't throw
Just thought I'd share

or really what your question is. What we need to get to any "next level" is better receivers and quarterbacks.

You can get a lot done with MS Olinemen was my point. Of course you should look out of state, but you seemed act like MS of linemen were of no use. And that's clearly not the case.

it should be a lot harder to run the ball.

And the development of our offensive line is a major reason we ran the ball so much better. Dixon has always been good. But now his good run were 8-10 yds as opposed to 1-3.

We ran well b/c our offensive line got so much better.

Sherrod is a fantastic lineman, and I think if he were at any other school, he would be getting the recognition he deserves. JC is much improved from last year and did great at center. But the other 3, Lawrence, Jenkins, and Saulsberry, I'm not really sold on. I think Saulsberry might end up being ok, but we need some depth at OL, and I guess my point was that to do so, we would have to go out of state. I don't think we can have talented depth at OL without going out of state was what I was trying to get across.
