This guy has to be glad he is where he is right now.<div>
</div><div>But I think if here were still here things would be different. I think he was the glue holding all the pieces together.</div><div>
</div><div>And I know it's been talked about before, but I think Stans was all but gone to Clemson and Kirby was going to move over in the HC chair. When Rick couldn't get his buyout clause rectified he balked, decided to stay after telling Kirby the job was his. Kirby said, screw this, and left for Georgetown and took Tyler Adams with him.</div><div>
</div><div>Yes, MSU has a solid, potentially great, signing class coming in next year. But with out both team discipline AND teamcamaraderie it won't matter. Our football team is a TEAM. And it's because they worked, sweated, puked, and played hard together in the off season. They formed a bond. It doesn't appear that the same bond is found in the basketball team right now.</div>

I believe there is no doubt that the assistant coaching staff is partly to blame in this. I know we have some challenging personalities on this team but on most teams its the assistants that are the closest to the players and manage the player relationships. Its obvious, from the actions of the players, that they have little to no respect for the coaching staff that we currently have. Almost like kids behave when they have no respect for their parents. Now we certainly had some off-court issues even when Kirby was here but it definitely appears to have ramped up a notch since he left. Brooks may be a good guy but he has no D1 experience and I'm concerned that besides likely dropping off from Kirby's game coaching we also took a drop in the "authority figure" category by not hiring a more qualified, experience coach for our staff. Do you realize that out of our current 3 assistants only one has D1 experience ANYWHERE other than under Stans and that's Cunningham's 3 year stint at Georgia State before returning to MSU? That's pretty weak.

I don't mean that Kirby is the for sure solution. If it's true that he would have become the HC if Rick in fact did leave for Clemson, I'm not so sure I would have applauded that decision.<div>
</div><div>But I do think we lost some discipline when he left. And when we replace Kirby with Brooks it leaves a big gap there.</div><div>
</div><div>Heck, Grant was right there by them when they were fighting and what did he do? Not much at all. Lukzak and Kodi were trying to break them up while Grant was watching.</div>

The Kirby I used to know was far from a discplinarian but who knows. I think the biggest single differencethis year from last is the fact that Sidney is around more.

Nice avatar by the way, I loved that show.

Kirby was still here when Kodi mouthed off to the press, he was still here when Dee decided to miss the NBA deadline, and he was still around when Phil Turner went AWOL.

I just don't buy the "Kirby kept people in line" theory.
