I hope to get him as much as the next Bulldog fan, but I can't put much stock into what this kid or any recruit says on twitter or any social media outlet. They go back and forth everyday about schools and visits and talking to coaches. I hope we get him and i think we have a good shot as an underdog in this, hopefully he will see we are putting guys in the NFL as first rounders and coach wilson can persuade him to be our #1 instead of being alabama's #2 or #3 guy

If you watch kids in recruiting not only with football but with basketball as well. These kids are now understanding that they can pull along schools and fans to get so much more attention and publicity if they keep hinting or teasing fans and schools. Use to kids were good about keeping their word if they make a verbal commit, now some kids have no loyalty to the things they say, they mostly say what they say to get more attention. But heres to hoping we pull an upset and getting him!

i don't think you can point at just the kids. look at recruiting as a whole. you have trained professionals that get paid millions per year to be extremely persuasive. you have a multi-million dollar recruiting industry these days. when you are CONSTANTLY being contacted by professional recruiting gurus hoping to break the news and CONSTANTLY being recruiting by men paid millions of dollars to get you to sign on the dotted line, kids are prone to "commit". whether they mean it or not, it can get at least some of the heat off their back or maybe in the moment they do mean it when the multi-millionaire salesman gets done with him. then another multi-millionaire salesman rolls into the house and pitches him and it sounds damn good too. and remember this kid is 16-18 and still in HS. hardly a grizzled adult whose "seen it all". hell, most adults are stillsusceptibleto a good salesman. and these coaches are much better salesmen than your avg used car salesman. it's just the nature of the beast and there's no reason to act all high and mighty like "back in my day your word meant something" because back in your day the system was nothing like it is today.

It certainly can't hurt to have the best recruit in the country say good things about our coaching staff.

Simply put, I think they are just attention whores like 99% of the avid posters in social media.... the only difference between them and the myriad of stupid whores that fill my facebook newsfeed is that these HS athletes are posting stuff that is relevant to MSU football, while the stupid whores are posting stuff like baby pics and/or about how they can't wait to have a glass of wine after work.

If these athletes are being as diabolical as you are suggesting then, if football falls through for them... they have a bright future in marketing.
