What is up? Watching Dan's press conf after practice, he said that he needs to work on fundamentals and would more than likely not play agaist JSU. Anybody know what is up? I thought he was doing good, seemed to be recovered from injury.

He's got three good backs in front of him in Dixon, Ducre and Stallworth. And two good backs around him in Conner and Perkins. Not to mention the fullbacks Hemphill and Hanrahan. He's just coming off surgery too. Shoot ... it's not hard to get lost in the shuffle. There's only one ball to go around.

This year he's taken a step back and needs to work on fundamentals? Does he just not know the game of football? Jeeeez.

For what it's worth (and that's not much), I attended one of the open practices a few weeks ago and one of the first things I noticed was Elliott. He was wearing a large brace on his knee and seemed to be favoring it quite a bit and not going full speed. I wasn't sure if that was mental or physical. The RB's were working right in front of me so I watched them most of the time and, compared to the other guys, Elliott seemed at about 85% - again, I don't think he was loafing, just seemed tentative.

Anyway, just my observation.

I definitely see him as a running back. He just may have some hurdles to overcome.

Tick, Tick, Tick, time is running out for this guy. If he doesnt perform soon he may never see the field and all the hype that followed him out of highschool will be for nothing

Dixon and Ducre are proven and highly capable, and Stallworth supposedly fits the offense better than those two. We'll see a lot more of Elliot the next two years.

Nothing? Robert Elliot Day is legendary. We'll always have that.

And Brandon McRae, as courageous as he is, will not do much either. Some injuries are physically insurmountable. Southern fans are about to learn this with DB.

Have you not noticed that Mullen is not saying anything at all about the game plan or who will be getting the ball? Elliott has been a bright spot in the scrimmages, and will be utilized heavily in the screen game

He has a stable of very talented and experienced RBs in front of him. Let him learn. Enjoy the rare occurrence where we actually have enough depth/talent at a position were another talented player can learn and wait his turn when the time is right.

I swear, it seems that when MSU actually does something that resembles what competitive programs do on a regular basis (e.g. bench talented players in favor of other talented players, recruit more than one quality QB, fire negligent coaches, etc. etc. etc.) people freak out because it doesn't fall in line with the traditional MSU sucktitude.

Oh.. wait. Oops. I thought it was 2007 and we were talking about Jarvis Varnado.

He will probably turn out about like Cordera Eason...always in someone else's shadow.

..and begging him to go find Elliot in Okolona and open a line of communication.

That was a fun night.

damn, he's just a sophomore. it's not often, even for high school badasses, that they don't have to wait behind someone... i'm just glad we have that luxury.
