Surely not. If I had to bet, he's probably saying no commitment as of yet.

I'd hope he was just referring the the rumor that he committed...though the article linked said he was expected to commit, which if that is whats untrue, then once again; huh.

All i know is that im loving the fact that basketball recriting is being talked about in a good light for once!</p>

He won't say for sure if he visited or not. Foxsports.com said that he visited and committed. Bulldawgjunction said that he did in fact visit. I'm gonna say that he did visit and will probably commit or already has. Robertson made it clear last night that he wants to be correct and he doesn't worry about getting "scooped" or being first. BDJ is making Gene's page squirm a good bit here lately.

That wasn't the case before BDJ when they would beat their chests WWE-style every time they posted a story or gave "bones" on the message boards.

It's comical how they are acting over there.

I have also noticed this. Since SixPack has gotten huge and BDJ has gotten up and running, the tone of the moderators on Gene's has changed. You can ***** and complain a little more over there. David Murray has also taken the tone over as this sarcastic *******. You have to wonder if this is them trying to be more "sixpack" in their own way. Again, this is only my take on things.

Murray does a good job with Dawgsbite magazine, but he needs to stay off the boards and away from actually talking about sports. He brings nothing to the table.

...John Riek was one of the "lost boys of Sudan" and has a couple of things to do before he can sign. He wants to sign, but needs a couple of things to happen, mostly to restore his amateur status with the NCAA. He was ruled ineligible by the NCAA back a year ago, when he declared for the draft and participated in some camps, then went back to Sudan and played there for a season. He may have received some level of support and compensation from the government of Sudan. We can't sign him until he gets his status cleared up with the NCAA, otherwise the NCAA would come down on us for signing a "professional" basketball player. The most likely scenario is for him to give up a year of eligibility and return any money he received in order to regain his amateur status.

Most of you have seen evaluations and highlights of his play. He is very raw offensively, his only offense is offensive rebound putbacks, but is a very good defensive player and rebounder. In terms of potential, think Hasheem Thabeet. If he does sign, he probably would have to sit out a year, then have 3 to play 3. His potential is down the road a year or two.

All this is just what I gather from what I have heard. Also, I can positively affirm that he visited and wants to sign here.

Yes, let's compare him to a first team All American and future top 5 NBA pick. I will be willing to bet his career numbers end up being closer to Marcus Campbell than Hasheem Thabeet. Maybe, perhaps, if we are lucky, he would be like Mamdou Ndiaye, formerly of Auburn, who put up about 10/8 with a couple of block his senior season.

To be fair, the Thabeet comment was from a couple years ago, when Thabeet was still talented but totally unable to put anything together on the offensive end, still not strong, and slapped too often on D.

Sure, i agree it is a lofty comp, even then...but its not like he was comparing them in present day.

Hasheem Thabeet?? Hook it up with some of that east sudanian hashish that you are smokin. If he had the talent of thabeet he would not be considering state. He would be headed straight to the lottery of the NBA draft. Thats where 7'2 fellas from Africa go.

...I was simply likening his potential, but need to improve to that of Thabeet. Thabeet was a very raw project with height and athleticism when he signed with UConn. If Rief signs with us, he will be just as raw, maybe more so. I wasn't saying he is anywhere close to Thabeet right now. You can't teach 7-2 with 7-8 1/2 wing span, but you can teach fundamentals and some skills.

It was a ceiling comparison. I highly doubt that this guy's ceiling is first team All American/Top 5 NBA pick. But whatever. I hope I am wrong.
