I think they said he does scouting for the Spurs now.
Nothing would make me happier than having him on Popes staff. He’s obviously very good at breaking down film and he would be a valuable asset in beating Calipari’s ***. He doesn’t even need to be part of the main staff just an associate or specialist role.

Seeing him back at it is great for him. Glad to see he’s back at it. It also makes it feel like Cal should have been loyal and stuck with his dude? Even if he was having issues, give him a leave of absence. His kid died for gods sake. He clearly was able to turn it around. Maybe it’s just me but I think Cal should have stood by him.
Who knows what really happened between them? The only thing we know for sure is that Cal’s tenure went downhill rapidly after his departure.
Sure. I just think you’ve got to allow some extra grace for someone going through something of that magnitude.
Would it be fair assessment to say that losing him was the first domino in the fall of Calipari?

I agree, I mean we have no idea what happened but if they were as close as reported for decades then I don’t see how he didn’t say you can come back whenever you feel like you can work again.
No doubt, I think it shows how important he was to Calipari’s success. He wasn’t the same coach without him and we weren’t the same program.
For all his faults, Cal does seem extremely loyal to his people. There's gotta be some things that transpired that we'll never know about. That breakup seems pretty odd, considering how Cal keeps his circle.
I think Robic was the assistant that gave Cal winning teams the first few years at Ky, when he left Cal teams fell apart.
This is the most telling stat to be honest and shows how much Robic meant to Cal’s coaching staff!

We’ve been discussing Robic and the downward trend for years now lol.
There's no telling what happened. All we know is Robic's daughter died from cancer (eff that damn disease) and that he really started having personal issues (and who can blame him?!) Even more telling is that folks like Jones and other media don't like to talk about it. So whatever happened, must have been pretty bad. Maybe he and Cal got into it or something; who knows. I'm not gonna blame Cal first without knowing exactly what happened. In reality, it doesn't overly matter. It's history.

Robic and Peevy were the Cal whispers and leash keepers. They could talk to him and keep him on track.
This. Robic and Cal must have really gotten into it or someone said something really nasty about the other (and didn't mean to) for them to drift apart like that.
Just because Robin is scouting for the Spurs does not mean "he is back" and ready to handle the rigors of big time college ball. We don't know that.

I will blame Cal first because he was the boss. If he had wanted to be a friend and help and let Robic sort it out he could have.

Robic was by far the most important staff member for Calipari
It’s no coincidence he was an assistant at both UMass and Memphis when they went to the FF
He was the brains behind Cal for years and it showed once he left.
Depends on what happened. Are they still even friends? Also, Robic may have had a say as well.
Literally very few people know exactly what happened and unless I know the truth, I'm not gonna blame or agree with either party. We just have no idea of what happened and no one wants to seem to talk about it.
I'm just glad Robic is doing what he loves again and seems to be doing ok.

Agreed. It started going downhill slowly after he left. We had some highs (2017, 2018 SECT, 2019 E8) but it was the beginning of the end for sure.
I mean if you read what Robic’s wife put out and you’re still defending Cal on this one, have it. I’m not gonna end up on your side of things on this one.
Kind of similar to the relationship between Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Jones... The brilliant football mind made the big ego blowhard look good, then left because of the big ego idiot... Big ego proceeds to manage the team down the toilet. Rinse, lather, repeat.
Yup and Jerry has been too dumb to see it, year after year with all their resources and they can’t build a contender. Makes me sick.
