although as you can see from my sig, I held out false hope that Croom would get in on Woodson somehow.

Woodson is, without a doubt, the most underrated athlete in Mississippi. He "may" be the best player in the state. Hell yeah it's debatable, I know, but that's just how I feel. And now that he's committed to F'N Bama [sonuva f'n *****!], sit back and watch as his "star rating" mysteriously goes through the roof.

****! Now I've got to change my sig.

and he doesn't care to know. Hell, now that he's committed to Bama he'll probably make it, but no way he would have for either of us.

Here's the latest info on Woodson's grades. Sent to me by a Bama prick that I work with (from one of the recruiting sites he subscribes to):

Coach Samsel told us that Woodson has some work to do but nothing out of reach. He is in better shape than Alonzo Lawrence was at this point last year if that tells you anything.[/quote]I hate that this guy is probably going to end up at Bama. He is a bigtime player. 44.5" vertical [forgive my bulldog backer moment there].

the state. People all over the state grow up cheering for Ole Miss, State, and USM. They don't cheer for UPS, or Toyota, or McDonald's or wherever you work. Not saying I blame the players, it just pisses me off to know that LSU, UT, UAT, UA can just cherry pick who they want from MS.

how do you know for sure that this student or any other actually liked USM, State, or OM in the first place? and even if they do grow up cheering for a school it doesn't mean they owe the school anything at all. i had several friends who grew up die hard OM fans and they went to State instead because they wanted to be engineers. you go where the opportunity is. and to top it all off, without being athletes a lot of these guys wouldn't go to school at all, or at least not for free. so why should they owe it to the great state of MS to stay here with all of those contingencies in place?

now that being said, i hate to see them leave the state too but I don't agree with either of your statements except for this:

Not saying I blame the players
I don't blame them either.....because they are taking the best deal (or at least the one they think is the best for them).

edit to say: i wouldn't have even responded to you if you hadn't said
No loyalty at all to the state.
that is where my beef is because that is blaming the players.

Say what you want about Gene, but I think Rosebowl does a fantastic job. And he thinks Woodson is very much lacking in the cover skills area. Also too small to move to OLB.

It is not like you are comparing a Fortune 500 with a mom and pop start up. MS players would have just as good of chance to play in minor bowls, with the occassion major bowl, if they banned together and stayed in state.

Have we ever signed a 4* out of state when he had an offer from the in-state school(s)?

Marvin Byrdsong --- Just another in the long list of "phantom" players we have had. Players who had all the hype but for some reason (overrated, injury, peaked in HS, etc) never made it at MSU).
