We (MSU) set the standard for stadiums many years ago with the Left Field Lounge, then Dudy Noble, then the sky boxes, and finally the scoreboard/jumbotron. As we set the standard, others came in, viewed our architecture and improved from it. Yes, Dudy Noble is in need of a facelift however I'll take the John Cohen factor all day over some new brick and mortar.
again this is speculation, but anyway...
I'm pretty sure that Byrne will start a campaign to renovate Dudy-Noble once the scoreboard and IPF are finished. It makes sense to wait and let Cohen get the program going and people coming back so that it will be easier to raise the funds. It also makes sense to see what Ole Miss does so that we can top it. (Sorry Rebel Bruiser).

Just because we used to have the nicest facility in the SEC is no reason we shouldn't now. And if the "Cohen factor" is as great as you allude, then now is the time to raise some serious money for Dudy Noble.
And since we're on the subject.. I'm much, much more in favor of a nice expansion at DNF before a basketball practice facility. The basketball facility will be used by 26 scholarship-players and 2 coaching staffs. Dudy Noble is for the fans.

If you're waiting for Cohen to "get the program going", excitement is probably higher right now than it will be when we're in the middle of the upcoming season. I don't see us being overly competitive this year. And if you're for sitting around and waiting to "see what Ole Miss does so that we can top it", I'm sorry I didn't take any pictures today, because it's plain as day right now.

McCool Hall the summer the old part was renovated. I was in it a couple weeks before the fall started and I said there would be no way it was done before school started. Then the first day of classes.. it was finished. Looked like they did as much work the last week as they did the first several months.
