Is he talking about Juicy Jumbos leaving too?

Total BS. He was gone no matter who coached here. Duke money is now being used well in Meridian.

Rodney Hood Sr. made contradictory comments at the time. He originally said that Hood was considering transferring because the coach that signed him was gone, but apparently trying to be diplomatic to Ray, later backtracked and suggested that they would have left anyway. I don't remember Rodney Hood Jr. going on the record at the time.

To support the coaching change, one would have to be willing to take the short term hit and further believe that we'd be better off in the long run even if our talent level was lower. I'm still hoping that once Ray gets his feet under him, he'll be able to get some of these top recruits as well. I like some of the guys we've signed and received commitments from, but we need to do more.

With Stansbury still here I feel confident that....

And BOOM goes the dynamite. That's gonna piss some "in the know" folks off.
Hood and Pollard would currently be on our team. They still would have been poorly coached and the program would have still had problems but those 2 would be here.

Yep. Like I've said before, Hood was Ray's first recruiting job. Unfortunately he failed. Hopefully he learned something from it.

Seriously, doesn't that sound like something you would hear ....

"When he left, I felt like a big part of me left, as far as the reason I went to the school" Is he talking about Juicy Jumbos leaving too?
in a sappy love song?

That's right and we would have won 20+ games this year too. However, the BS that went on, on and off the court, was enough to warrant changing coaches.

Must've been watching Rocky IV

"When he left, I felt like a big part of me left, as far as the reason I went to the school"

Is he talking about Juicy Jumbos leaving too?

"Apollo was like my son. I raised him. And when he died a part of me died."

Know who said that? Rocky's trainer, Duke.

I know for a fact Hood asked for his release before Stans even resigned. He had been considering leaving since about December.

I suppose Chris Jones never showed up in Oxford last weekend, huh? After all, he said he wasn't there.

I realize this upsets you, but let's not confuse two situations that have nothing to do with each other.

It's nice that you have a hunch, but this is the first indication we've ever had that Hood might have stayed, contradicting earlier statements, and there has NEVER been any evidence that Pollard was even seriously considering us.

I can tell you from my personal observation that Pollard was at multiple MSU games sitting behind the bench, and there were plenty of quotes about him considering MSU at the time. Stans was close with his family.

20 games? Ummm no. We still would have no PG and both Hood and Pollard are overrated.

Pollard is a raw player that wasn't going to be a huge impact player in his first year. But he'd probably be our most athletic player. Whether or not Hood is an overrated (something I disagree with), he'd still be by far our best player. We'd probably have Josh Gray at PG, but I don't know how good he is. At the end of the day though, we'd still be an extremely young team. We'd actually be even younger than we are now.

yep 20 games. We would have josh gray running point. We would also still have Kristers Zeidaks and Shaun Smith and I'm sure I'm missing someone else

I know form an AC

he had to be talked into not leaving at Christmas break last year. Heard from same source he told the staff he would leave at the end of spring before Stans fate was known

The folks who wanted Stans fired will never acknowledge anything that does not agree with the "facts" as they see them. Resistance is futile! Everything is wonderful with the basketball program. Scott Stricklin is a genius.

The point is State fans, of all people, should know not to believe something just because it is a direct quote from an athlete.

I'm calling ******** on that. Rodney Hood almost left twice before Stansbury "retired." One of those was before he ever even enrolled.

Almost leaving and leaving are not the same. This clears up a lot of confusion, but we're still stuck with a blown up basketball program and no light at the end of the tunnel.

Hood had one foot out the door from before the day he enrolled. It was just a Matt of when, not if, he would transfer.
