Most of the time when I get a shot at the doctor's I see the needle goes straight into the sharps container. When I don't see it I assume it does anyways. I might be wrong, but I thought there were laws saying how needles had to be disposed of.

assuming you're working in a place that cares about getting fined or raked over the coals by a safety committee, and not some shady trainer's garage or something. I'll be surprised if this ends up being admissible in court, since DNA (and other forensic evidence) can get tossed out if it doesn't follow chain of custody protocols.

this doesn't prove anything. My first thought is that the trainer is a scumbag for holding onto the syringes as his ace in the hole if he ever needed it, and secondly who knows what those syringes were used to inject Clemens with. Could easily be B12 or a flu shot for all we know.
