Post if you are or aren’t working because of quarantine. If you want to say you are working but receiving less money, then feel free.

-Currently working (thankfully)

I am working more than ever. My company makes some parts for medical supplies. We are short manned so I've been working overtime. Wife is working from home with normal pay and home schooling the kids.

In automotive. Luckily only had to take a 1 week furlough in April. Some had to take the whole month. Still waiting to see what happens in May.

On our 4th week of emergency shut down, assuming next week will be the fifth. Can’t work from home so a couple people go in each day to take care of as much as we can. I think I’ve worked 24 hours so far.

Edit: I still get paid for emergency shut down and earn comp time for when I do go in.

Working from home, but tough to get much done as I have my 4 year old here at all times and my wife works 12’s as an ICU nurse. Just great fun to still be employed!

I’m not working because I’m indefinitely furloughed along with everyone else but the owners. CEO said when everyone returns that hours, roles, and compensation will probably change so who the hell knows if I’ll even want to return long term.

Based on the job postings that are popping up, might be my only choice unless I want to become a CDL driver, manual labor, or grocery. Everything else posted, mostly medical, I’m unqualified for or it would pay less than getting a job at a grocery store. People don’t like to pay **** around here yet they wonder why no one wants to do a lot of these jobs or they get out as soon as they can. Saw one job posting a while back that said a masters degree was required but they were only paying $12 an hour max for a full-job...

At least my unemployment is right at the same as what I was making so I can ride it out until I return, assuming that’s by sometime in July that is.

We're both retired, but.....

Son - Still working. He has a job where he encounters very few people daily. He fills out safe work and hot work permits as maintenance calls and tells him where they need one for in the mornings. Sometimes he will meet with someone from safety if there's a hot work permit needed. After that, he makes rounds and checks on refrigeration equipment in his area of the plant.

His wife - Working from home. Will sometimes go in after her employer is closed if she needs some paperwork.

Daughter - Working from home for the most part. Occasionally has to go meet a client.

Her husband - Works at home for two weeks, then goes into work for two weeks while the guys who were at work for two weeks go home to work for two weeks.

Niece - Pediatric nurse who is still working. Her husband works in IT and is still working from home.

Niece - Elementary school teacher. Still getting paid for now.

Anything I can do to help in terms of finding a new gig?

My company is in the dubious position of providing an essential service (CPR and BLS classes) but can’t provide the service. Our services are 99% rendered off-site since we operate classes nationally, and since basically everywhere is shut down that would host our classes, we can’t have any classes.

In all likelihood, doubtful. I’m kind of stuck where I am for the foreseeable future but I won’t dive into that.

If you know of a job paying around $40K in the Lynchburg, VA MSA that doesn’t require me to have a CDL or a medical or engineering degree then I’m all ears though.

sorry to hear, and I hope things improve.

if there is something I can do to help, let me know
I was only at that job a month and didn’t really like it much. Just not a particularly good fit for me.

Everyone there is really religious and literally every company wide email the CEO sends starts off with some religious stuff. And every company meeting starts off with some religious stuff. I’m not the least bit religious, but It’s fine by me if someone is religious. If I wanted to go to church, I’d go to church, not work. It’s just a bit off putting to me to not mention it any matter at any point in the process if it’s going to be a big part of your business. Never would have applied to it in the first place has I known it was going to be like that.

We have like 20 people working there, everyone seemingly has no life outside of their spouse and kids as that’s literally all I hear any of them talk about if it’s not work related conversation. I’m single with no kids and don’t have any interest in ever having kids, so I basically have really nothing to talk about with any of them. I don’t mind hearing people talk about their family, but you know I don’t have any interest in conversing EXCLUSIVELY about family.

And on top of that my office that I share with one other person is more or less secluded from 85% of the people that work there and my office mate is basically a mute. I was there a month and the most meaningful non-work conversation I was able to have with anyone was “Hi, how are you doing?” I’m pretty introverted and even I think it’s too little socialization. I actually look forward to someone calling me at work and I HATE talking on the phone.

And this is not even to go into the battles I had with the CEO the first month because she has zero clue what she was talking about with social media and email marketing despite she claiming that she was a marketing person.

I’ll miss the money if I never go back, but if I never have to work there another day I won’t be disappointed. And if I do return, I have zero interest in staying any longer than I’ll have to, I’m just going to keep on looking for another job to get me out of there. I’m going to be miserable if I’m there long term.

Working from home and home schooling two kids. So I’m working harder than normal. Wife is a nurse practitioner at the hospital so she’s going in everyday.

Feel a bit guilty but we're busier than ever because of new construction housing. Fortunate enough that all the projects I was landing middle to late last year are paying commissions now so actually making more than I ever have.

I've worked from home for about 5 years now so in some ways this has been a blessing to our company to refine our processes and become more efficient with others being able to do the same.

My wife and I are both working full time, from home, with two kids, 3 and 5.

Her job consists of talking to people on the phone all day. So, during business hours, I oversee the kids while working and am not as productive. I essentially work from 8am-11pm everyday with (3) two hour breaks for lunch, dinner, and bedtime. Then, I work on Saturday and Sunday to catch up while she can watch them.

I’m thankful to be working, best of luck to you guys out of work. Hopefully the rest of us are helping flick the economy along enough that you’ll be back sooner than you think.

I am considered an essential employee so nothing has changed for me other than some safety measure such as wiping down common areas, keeping my office door closed, staying 6 feet away from others, etc.

Working from home, but I'm in outside sales so I've never had an office to report to anyhow. 75% of my customers are probably just as busy as they were earlier this year with some even busier. I sell to manufacturing plants and most have figured out a way to be deemed essential to continue operations. I think we'll start to get back out on the road in May, but still expect many customers and prospects to limit contact well into fall/winter.

My wife is a 1st grade teacher so she's doing online teaching. Those requirements seem to vary from county to county, but she probably has more work to do everyday than I do to be honest.

Essential business so working both at work (private office) and partially at home (encouraged when possible).

In engineering/construction so we are currently very busy as nothing has really changed other than hygiene and distancing requirements.

Where the problem lies is 3-4 months down the road when our backlog of work gets negatively impacted and whatever economy we have left becomes more clear. This is nowhere near like ‘09 where the system was broken. This should be a setback in the global and domestic economy, but until there is a vaccine, everyday life across the board will suffer.

upside...I was way out in front on Social Distancing. Was built for this...

Retired too.

Son - Manages government housing rehab projects. Still working, some from home, so far, but projects slowing down.

DIL - Jr. High principal working from home keeping teachers on track for completion of current grade classwork & what plans are for next school year including staffing. OH schools closed for this ending school year.

Grandkids keeping up with school work. GD in HS literally has 6 hrs of works some days. GS 3-4 hrs in 4th grade.
