Are they still around? Was watching 1983 vs. Minnesota and saw a commercial for them. With the way the landscape of restaurants has changed in the past 30 plus years, a lot of places back then would be hard pressed to be here in 2017. Never heard of them before, but then again, I never lived in Omaha/Lincoln where I assumed they were/are.

That's impressive to be around so long, they must be doing something right.
I know a guy married to the owners kid. When we used to do work at offut we went there for lunch then would go south and do some quail hunting.
I liked the burritos covered with cheese, followed by some beer.

I was in Omaha this weekend and when the teenage children asked for Mexican food I was reminded of how globs of cheese and ground beef pass as the favored Mexican food around town. Tex mex's last stand. Gross.

Romeos is the kind of place where...eh...non-Mexican folk get their grub on.

That place is a senior citizen center at 430, and pretty much everyone else rolls in for large margaritas and nacho cheese sauce by 6.

My in-laws think its the greatest place to eat in town, I don't mind going there, but its certainly not authentic Mexican food if that is what you are looking for.

It has its place in my pantheon, I've grown to appreciate over the years, the various flavors offered by places like Del Taco, Taco Bell and Romeos. (I tend to eat at Abelardo's since its near my house and pretty tasty. If I wanted pizza with it I'd probably just roll through a Papa John's or Mama's).

In my family, we generally categorize Mexican food joints into two types of places, places where the food actually has a priority, and places where they offer tacos, but folks are there for the drinks/cheese dip and are sloshed enough to not care that the tacos suck.

I always had a thing for their pizza.

Pro tip: get the queso then dip your pizza crust in it.

for Mexican I like
1. the taco truck at arts auto parts, It's right by the fire fighters union hall by the interstate, on 13th I think. $3.50 for a steak tortada and coke.
2. the Mexican restaurant on the east corner from sapp brothers. fahitas
3. some lady at noon at the tyson plant in millard sells homemade tomalies out of a bronco
4. 24th and L

I used to work at creigton on a crane, and a taco truck pulled about 50 ft away. I ate there every day, until creighton ran them off, cause all the students would go there instead of the cafeteria.
there's also a decent taco truck on st marys, around 24th I think.
el bees ain't bad.

the best is them 15 hour homemade tomalies wraped in a corn husk. with beer.
I'm a Cornhusker with them

Romeo's has decent pizza, surprisingly. Alberado's is damn tasty, and they don't skimp. Give me a bowl of Nettie's chili, some tortillas and refries, and that's heaven.

Abelardo's is Alberto's- you need to be getting the carne asada fries (or mega fries is what they call them here)
The Mexican place at Oak View is really pretty good.
Taco King at 24 & Q and La Esmeralda on something and Q plus the taco truck at 24 & L Walgreens
But the best Mexican is El Chalon across the street from South High
