Bizarrely, Spurs using Harper off the ball. He’s coming off the bench with D’aaron Fox not even playing. No idea what they plan to do with Harper when Fox comes back. Spurs were better off trading their pick if they are going to bury Harper.
Harper missed much of the preseason, and this is the first year the Spurs will be trying hard to get into the playoffs. NBA coaches tend not to trust rookie point guards generally since they tend to turn over the ball a ton. As the season goes on and Dylan gets his feet wet, expect him to back up both guard spots, and they can also give Castle some small forward minutes to get Dylan some extra time on the court. It is always a little tough for rookies playing on teams that are trying to win, the coaches don’t have much tolerance for mistakes. Ace will play 35 minutes a game in Utah because they are not playing for anything this year other than more draft picks.

Would you look at Dylan's stat line vs. the Nets tonight. Holy shite. Bet mom, and dad were there in Brooklyn.
Dylan was fantastic. 8-11fg, 4-4ft, 6rebs, 8 assists, 20pts. Second leading scorer behind Wembanyama.

Actually, I think the Ace/Dylan pick and roll would have looked a lot like what we see in the video - a whiff by the screener and then Dylan makes something happen
That would be because no one was taught to set a screen. With players of that caliber, you would think that it would have been a point of emphasis in practice.

Speaking of Harper's, did Ron get cut already? He's not on box score.
He’s on a 2-way contract again, which means he’s splitting time with the G League and NBA team. He will often not be in the Celtics box score and when he is, expect DNPs

Dylan has 48 points after the first 3 games for an average of 16 ppg. He also has 5.0 in rebounds and 4.3 assists per game and averaging over 77% on free throws. Pretty good so far in my opinion in only playing just barely over half a game. His stats in the one game was much better than Flagg. I just hope he can stay healthy. I hope Ron can get some minutes with the Celtics.

Ace is now 3-19 from the floor and has 8 points after 3 games.

so far things are playing out like we expected. Dylan is day 1 ready while Ace is extremely raw. He’s efficient in the sense that he doesn’t need to dominate the ball to score but very streaky as a shooter. I’m sure he’ll have a game where he goes off at some point but for him to be a difference maker he’ll need to be more consistent and bring more intangibles

Dylan is much more ready and landed in an outstanding situation (with SA and Wemby).

Ace has unfortunately been dealing with the flu, probably shouldn’t have been playing. He was great in the preseason, and Utah is over the moon happy with him so far. Look for them to move Markkanen during the season and go all in building around Ace.

bailey a bit better, though still in limiting minutes: 8 points on 3-5 FG, 0-2 from 3, 2-2 FT, 3 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 turnover, 1 blocked shot .. though a -17 in the plus/minus column for those who like that stat ... in just 16 minutes. Hit his 1st 3 shots when he initially entered the game, all on dribble drive pull-up mid-range shots - smooth and easy, each of them. Got or took no other mid-range shots the rest of the game, but missed 2 3-point shots - both good shots to take. Should have had at least 2, if not 3, additional assists - good drives and passes, his teammate missing easy open shots.

I suspect he will be taking more of Filipowski's minutes as the season progresses, and maybe also Cody Williams'

Has anybody been watching the Jazz games? AB has been really high on the -16 -20 area every game. That's usually because getting schooled on defense. I haven't seen any of his games and curious as to why. Not usually due to missed shots

He's James Harden bad on defense. Truly awful.

ACE has all the talent on the O but his D is awful and we saw ghat at Rutgers. Rutgers had 2 lottery picks but the D may have been the worst in the country

I knew he was bad here but think he is worse in NBA but haven't seen one of his games. He needs another 20lbs of muscle on him
