I'm glad. Been pretty much a Rousey fan until this one. I think she was too cocky and I think she tried to intimidate Holm at the weigh-in and it didn't work. Rousey thought she was invincible, but she was wrong.

I'm not a MMA watcher, and this clip tells me why. It shouldn't take a ref to pull you off someone who is clearly knocked out. Holm is pounding the face of someone providing zero resistance. That's not sport, that's just brutality for the sake of it.

Disclaimer: I don't watch this trash and I don't condone it.

However, I have no problem with savages being... savage. They both signed on knowing the dangers. They aren't trained to knock somebody down and go to their corners. They're trained to fight until told to stop.

I know, which is why I don't watch it. I said earlier that I have been a fan of Rousey, but only in the sense of her being someone who worked hard at her craft and achieved so much through that hard work. I also found her funny at times and entertaining on talk shows and such. But I've never paid for or watched an MMA match. Just wanted to clarify that because my subsequent post sounded a little contradictory to the first one, after I read it.

The Buster Douglas/Tyson version of MMA.

I always liked Rousey. Her losing this fight really takes away a lot of her luster and appeal. She really should have retired and just done WWE and movies and lived off of that reputation of being undefeated.

Now no one is going to give a **** about her or the sport.

I honestly think it was her coach being terrible than anything else. She will change coaches and be great again

Yep, she was way too cocky before this bout. Next question ......can a girl be "cocky"?

She was definitely believing her own hype. You never know how a fighter will react to their first KO. Some never recover from that.

Ronda was living large and there is no way that doesn't cut into your training. She's acting, modelling, teaching, pro wrestling appearances... and has a very public and vigorous love life.

So she needs to decide if she is going to be a fighter or an entertainer. If she dedicates herself to fighting then nobody is going to beat her.

I don't think she'll be the same fighter again. Tyson wasn't after he got knocked out. I remember when Tom Cruise tried his hand at driving a stock car at Daytona, and came within a second of the track record. One of the drivers was asked if he was surprised, and he said "Not really. He's never hit the wall before." Well, Ronda just found out what the wall feels like.

I miss good ole boxing. This MMA crap is just plain disturbing imo. Women beating each others brains in and sweaty men in short shorts mounting each other for long periods face to face. If you ask me, it's kinda gross and gay. No offense to gays.

I love this sport and wish it was on free TV more often.

Funny how many people "never watch" MMA, but they seem to know that it's just too brutal and barbaric. Yet I bet those same folks just love their NFL and college football. Both sports end with contestants having concussions, bruises, blood and sometimes broken bones. I've never understood how one is the most popular sport in the US and the other is looked down upon by so many.

Roy Jones Jr. wasn't crap after he was knocked out one time. Amazing how that can effect some.

MMA is like guerrilla warfare, it works for a while until you come across an opponent who is better organizationally and strategically like a world champ boxer is.

I think that's exactly why she lost this fight. The difference between the two was night and day.

Holm wasn't intimidated by her, fought with poise and patience, picking her spots with precision. Rousey came out full on rage mode, fighting on emotion, constantly stalking and swinging wildly.

Rousey just didn't get knocked out, she was outclassed. Holm picked her apart and made her look bad. If Rousey tries to stand with her next time around, look for the same exact outcome.

Yeah, I miss the good ole days when we took fire hoses to the coloreds and beat the hell out of anyone we thought was *****. You know, back when we were really civilized. [eyeroll][eyeroll][eyeroll][eyeroll][eyeroll]

Get that sanctimonious crap out of here.

Really don't understand this post. So him not wanting women to fight is akin to him wanting those other things you mentioned? I'd say those who DO want them to fight are closer to that line of thinking.

Then you would need to also say that anyone wanting anyone to fight is closer to that line of thinking.
