Saban is one the reasons why we have NIL, same as Dabo, both making insane salaries while the kids who risked their bodies get very little in comparison. Some of us complain about the players bouncing from school to school, hell look at the coaches. Many of these coaches, including the great Sabon bounced around for the next shiny ring. The hole thing is starting to smell rotten!
But coaches can only make those salaries if there’s a market for it. I’m good at my job. If someone wants to pitch me to come work for them in the same role making double what I do now, I would be a fool to turn that down. So the blame is really on us, the fans, for creating an environment where coaches can be paid entirely too much for their craft.

If Clemson's winning national championships there's nothing left of the sport to be passionate about. There wasn't much worse than watching Dabo crow in 2016 and 2018.

Anyway, there's no going back. No sense putting these positive clemson vibes out into the universe.
Taking off my garnet colored glasses, the state of college football in general is worse that listening do dumbo crow. I hate to say it but its true. Now I'll put back on my garnet colored glasses. Carry on!

I'm not a Clemson fan at all and I think Dabo is a clown, but I have agreed with him all along about NIL and the portal. I wish he would follow up on his threat from a few years ago when he said he would quit if players started getting paid. He has to have enough money for several lifetimes and it would send a strong message to the college football world if a coach with two recent national championships walked away from the game because of NIL and the portal. Saban leaving wasn't quite as strong a message because he was close to retirement anyway. Dabo is in his prime as a coach.
Dabo hasn't quit and he won't, and Clemson is ranked way up there now in NIL $$.

Agreed. Same reason actors and athletes get paid so much. Because someone is willing to pay it.

No, he isn't going to quit, but if he had another 7-5 season (or worse) and the goobers up there fired him, I could see him retiring and not coaching again. His view of college football, if he refused to change, would make him a tough hire for another program. Not many places would hire a coach who isn't going to play the transfer game in today's college football world.

Their NIL will be on par with most programs under the new revenue sharing agreement.

He has a press conference scheduled for today with the AD. There's some anticipation that he's going to directly address the situation with Ole Miss. I'd be surprised if he does that, though I wish he would. I'm sure he's advised not to name players/coaches/schools. I don't see any of this getting anywhere until someone calls out a coach by name and a player by name and give receipts. Plenty of coaches have made vague references to certain players of their being tampered with and getting offers from other unnamed schools. That doesn't accomplis anything.

We need a "We had Ferelli signed to an NIL contract for $800,000. He was contacted by Ole Miss, and here are the texts he showed me. They offered him 7 figures, and he took it, left Clemson, in the process breaking the NIL contract he had signed with us."

Don't know that would accomplish anything more, but we need to start exposing these people. Dabo, given his extreme resistance to using the portal in the first place, I'm positive has never tampered with anyone, so he's really the one who can without fearing someone else outing him for tampering.

It would make a great investigative journalism story like that guy who uncovered all the fraud in Minnesota.

Personally, I think Dabo is the only one fit to be the Commissioner of college football. He seems to be the only one who remembers what it's supposed to be about. At least the only one who has been bold enough to say it. Even more bold in his stance than Saban.

I think the only reason he doesn't quit is the same reason many of us fans still stay engaged even though we're disgusted with the state of things: we cling to what the sport used to be.
yeah...in this one case his "holier than thou" attitude and outlook might actually be the best thing for that posistion.

Dabo let the cat out of the bag to reporters in a 19 minute rant. Turned everything over to the NCAA. Said there have been conversations between conferences.

Could and should get ugly. He said Ole Miss offered him $1M. He said he was staying. Increased it to $2M and he jumped.

Ole Miss coach directly contacted player and requested his buyout.

I don’t understand how this is considered tampering?

Perused one of their sites. There is apparently a question on if the guy actually signed his NIL deal? He was supposedly in classes and working out with the team.

Fwiw, internet chatter.
The nil deal is not want takes you out of the portal. It’s the financial agreement and only after it is signed can the player be announced. It’s tampering for sure but nothing will be done.

Dabo isn’t going to change anything. College FB is going to leave him behind. He will probably lose interest as will many cry babies… oh well.
