Yep, I really believe Mich St will beat them pretty easily. Mich St will by far be the best team they have faced this year.
exactly. I mean do they not understand being 12-0 isn't that big of a deal? and the fact that espn and others have been picking against them every week pretty much proves they aren't good. there's no way they even deserve to be on the same field as sparty. smdh
Sarcasm is lost on msg boards most of the time FYI. I don't think anyone is denying Iowa is a solid program and they deserve to be in the big 10 championship. I think what bothers most, me included, is how they win their games and lack of strength of schedule. They really haven't dominated any games this year (besides NW and northern texas whatever) NW being their most impressive win who were ranked like 19th at the time. They have only faced 2 ranked teams all year 17th being the highest I believe. Even against crap team, NEB included, they have to struggle to pull out a win.
Now if they were going into places like Neb and beating them by 20+ all year, yes they deserve to be where they are at. Next week will say a lot at how good Iowa really is. If they beat Mich St, they deserve to be in the Playoff no question. I just don't see it happening. Luck and playing not to lose only last so long. Eventually you need to go out and stomp on someones throat to get respect.

MSU could very well beat them but 12-0 is 12-0 and 5-7 is 5-7.
My thoughts exactly.. i mean, It's not what your record is at the end of the season - it's whether you hang 50 points on mediocre teams throughout the year to unequivocally prove that you deserve your own record. If Nebraska went undefeated and looked as bad as Iowa did this year, I would still be disappointed and say we don't deserve a top 4 ranking. Maybe those jokers need to check our Wikipedia page to see what a REAL football dynasty looks like
But did you see how they plinked and plunked their way to 12-0? This is exactly why the old bowl selection was wayyy better. It allowed terrible 12-0 teams to be left outside looking in during January. I mean, they're Iowa..how could they be anything other than mediocre?

I have been to Lincoln recently. Great town. Took in a Salt Dogs game. Very impressed with your sports facilities.

Winner of B1G championship game will be in the playoffs. Loser of that game will play in a New Year's Six bowl - either Fiesta or Peach.
OSU will jump to #6 this week and loser of B1G championship will fall below OSU in final rankings.
To any Iowa fan in this or any thread on this site... It is painfully obvious that hailmaryhusker is posing... He's gotten a few of you to bite, but even sadder, he's gotten a few of us to bite as well. Account started Friday. Over the top posts. The Rose can choose whomever they want to from the B1G. This has been confirmed by the bowl itself, as well as the conference. Rankings will only be one part of the equation. Other factors will include head-to-head results (not applicable here) and longest drought since their last Rose appearance (strongly in Iowa's favor).
If Iowa and OSU are very close together in the final rankings, Iowa will be the selection, even with a loss in the CG.
I think Iowa matches up well with Sparty. It will be closer than most think. While not overly talented Iowa is very sound in every aspect. Sparty sometimes loses their identity by passing to much, this allows teams to stay in the game and is why MSU has so many close games all year.
It will be a shootout. The only thing Sparty does well on offense is throw. Iowa has a weak pass D and one of the best, most balanced Os in school history. MSU has the worst D that they've had since probably Dantonio's been there. I expect a ton of points to be put on the board.
Its too bad Nebraska was on that easy schedule huh??? You guys can't help taking pop shots at Iowa even in defeat...wow! Iowa is my favorite team but I also enjoy watching Nebraska play so you could say that they are my second favorite team in the BIG so maybe I am just a bit overly sensitive. As far as the OP's question? Ohio State would probably get the nod for the Rose Bowl! After they dismantled a good Michigan team, I might even consider Ohio State the best team in the BIG and possibly in the country. I am glad Michigan State upset them but IMO if they played 10 times, Ohio State would win 8 of them! As far as Iowa...I am glad we are in the position that we are in..Chances of beating Michigan State are better because IMO we match up better!

Being new to the B1G you are not aware that traditionally MSU drops a game every year they shouldn't . Most of the MSU games this year have been close and a win at Mich shouldn't have happened . OSU beat themselves with the dumb play calling that made it easy to defend. The fact that big red beat them on a real controversial play does not mean a lot. If you look at the season stats from both team they are almost identical. Since Dantonio has been there in 7 meetings Ferentz has won 4.In head to head historical matchups Iowa holds the winning record. Don't be blinded by prejudice these teams could trade colors and with the exception of QB you would have a hard time picking one or the other . MSU recent success 4-5 years is not the norm from them and with the loss of the D coordinator to Pitt and Harbaugh at Mich they I believe will be trending down to their norm in future seasons as most teams not named OSU do. Alabama was not a power since the days of Bear until Sabin .Cycles are commom ala USC and Ore.
