Mississippi. I think we got a solid class, but Mississippi's class kills ours this year. I think some of their guys might be overrated simply because they are from Florida and not from MS.

Here's the key, we win, the high profile guys will believe in Mullen and trust him and come to MSU. We have another 5-7 season expect the same recruiting results. I think Mullen got what he needs to work with from last years class and the classes before ended up putting out some pretty good players and this class has a few sleepers. But I think this is it for Mullen. If he wins this season, all signs point toward success in recruiting. Another bad year, we will have a similar class like this one. I'm hoping we can end up in the top 35. Top 30 would be remarkable at this point.</p>

I am not so certain that our class kills anyone's class. The linemen are what separates the Alabamas and Floridas and the State and Ole Miss' of the world. I think we did well on the defensive line which will keep us in games but I really worry about our offensive line down the road. Wide receivers are great if you can get them the ball. Since we had Snead transfer I have only seen Raymond Cotton have SEC potential (and I haven't seen anything out of him yet). Both schools will be depending on our coaches to get the most out of our players to be able to win in this league. Georgia, Floridaand Bama could have 4th graders running their teams and win 8+ games per year with their talent.

For us, I think we've done a solid job on the OL the past two classes, and we needed a good DL class this year. I feel like we need another solid DL class in 2011, preferrably more DT heavy, and if we can have another solid OL class in the next one, we'll be in good shape on both sides of the ball for the near future.

That's where you win and lose in the SEC, up front, yet the recruiting sites still count a WR like a DT.

Sanders may be a great player, but he's definitely wasn't one of the top concerns of mine for this class. Obviously really good WRs have their impact. See Snead late 2008 with Mike Wallace versus Snead 2009 without Wallace, but I'm still going to always be most concerned with what we're doing up front.

The one thing I'll say for MSU though, is that with Mullen, the OL isn't going to be quite as big of a concern, because a lot of the running game you'll use will be option or misdirection oriented, which tends to allow for you to get by with an undersized or maybe even undertalented OL. So for your offense, the OL may not be quite as important as it is with ours.

I actually think we got some real good OLs in this class and our returning OL from last year was one of the best we have had inyears and they are all coming back. O and D line for us will be our strongpoints this year. Overall our D should be really good.

I'll try to translate. I think it goes something like this:

Raymond Cotton is the only QB we have with 4 starzzz!!11!1! I haven't seen him play yet though.

So where does that put Randall Mackey with the Rebs? Is he just not Nutt's style of QB, I mean, you guys just did recruit him from JUCO and he likely expects to compete for the job.

MSU is rounding out with 5 O linemen in our class, a couple which are huge. This is counting on Robinson signing with us also. The DL and OL will have a lot of depth and will be pretty dangerous after another year I think.

If he was in Oxford for the spring, I'd think the odds of him being the starting QB next year would go up plus he'd at least have the opportunity to have a package of plays installed for him during spring.

...but he's not...so it's overly optimistic to think he'll be in line to be THE starter with only summer workouts and fall camp to get ready.

I suspect Nutt will be chomping at the bit to get him in there but you can only do so much in a short amount of time.

Does size properly dictate and accurately project talent?

If so, we may have the 6'11" 400lb monster from Drew walking-on. Dude is so big that he will play RG and RT at the same time thus eliminating the need for us to sign another OL.

It's hard to tell where any OL projects, but to be cliche I think size matters in the SEC...I'll be interested to see what kind of shape the Rebs can whip up on that walkon. He obviously needs to lose about 50 lbs or that would've easily been a scholarship player.

But its a nice change from 6'1-6'2 guys playing tackle. The last 2 years we haven't brought in anybody under 6'4 which I like because that length helps against the pass rush. Everybody has been bitchin bc of the lack of O-Line recruiting, but we only graduated 2 guys off our 2 deep this year plus losing Merrit, and next year we lose 3 off of our 2 deep, and we already had 15 or so on scholarship which is a good number. So we will replace the 6 we are losing in the last 2 years with 2 from last year and 4 this year assuming Lawson and Robinson sign with us. I like the shape we are in on the OL. Now, having the numbers there doesn't necessarily mean they can play, but is does increase the likelyhood that you can 5-6 that can.

He was being recruited more as an athlete. I expect we use him as our main Wildcat trigger man. Basically we need an athlete that can throw the ball too for that to work. If so, I expect to see a fairly extensive package for Mackey out of that set, but I don't think he'll be manning the main offense, nor do I think that was ever the plan.

We'll see what he does, but I think they'll probably play Mackey at multiple positions, the main one being the Wildcat spot.
